VAUGHN DENNIS BULLOUGH

It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Vaughn on August 6, 2021.
Vaughn is survived by Patricia, his devoted wife and partner, as well as his mother Joyce of Victoria, BC, whom he so deeply cared for. Vaughn will be sorely missed by his friends, colleagues, former employees and associates from across the country.
Born in Claresholm, Alberta, Vaughn's family was transferred to Europe by the Canadian Air Force. Vaughn spent most of his youth living an idyllic life in Sardinia, Italy, surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea and its magical wonders. It was here he developed his lifelong love for all things Italian.
Returning to Canada at the age of 15, Vaughn adapted to a very new way of life, including cold temperatures, snow and a high school that had programming choices beyond his belief. This fed his thirst for learning and led him to graduate from McMaster University with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering.
Vaughn's thirst for learning then guided him to a research career in the glass industry, followed by the management of glass firms in Alberta, Ontario and New Brunswick and lastly, into the field of Waste Management in Alberta and Manitoba.
Vaughn retired in Winnipeg after 25 years as Vice-President and General Manager of Miller Environmental Corporation. In Vaughn's final days and in recognition of his contributions and unwavering dedication to the growth and development of Miller Environmental Corporation, Miller's Manitoba Environmental Centre was respectfully renamed in his honour to "The Vaughn Bullough Environmental Centre" by Miller CEO Blair McArthur.
In addition to leading the Miller Environmental team, Vaughn also played a key role in Manitoba's environmental industry. Serving on the board and as President of the Manitoba Environmental Industry Association, his vision and exemplary leadership helped shape the direction of Manitoba's environmental sector into the driving force that it is today, always generously giving of his business acumen and enlightened managerial approach to association staff, fellow business leaders and young entrepreneurs.
Vaughn had many virtues, but what stands out beyond measure was his remarkable ability to relate to people from all walks of life. Vaughn's people skills came naturally and were second to none. Vaughn related to people with ease, diplomacy, sincerity and a tremendous sense of humour. He possessed an uncanny gift to remember details about you, always making you feel special and valued. Vaughn believed that everyone he met was to be respected. This genuine caring was his guiding principal in his personal and professional life. As testimony to this, even in his final days, Vaughn was more concerned about how others were doing over talking of himself and when asked about how he was feeling, his response was invariably "I'm fine, but more importantly, how are you?"
Vaughn believed in interacting and pulling people together, which fostered a personal connection and a positive environment, an absolute priority to Vaughn. Vaughn knew how to build trust, dedication and amazing loyalty amongst his friends and colleagues, and in turn, he was fiercely loyal to all those in his circle.
Vaughn nurtured other passions for which he is renowned. He had an incomparable knowledge of sports cars, was a music and movie buff, a golf enthusiast, being grateful for his privilege to enjoy courses worldwide and lastly, his taste for a good scotch at the end of a hard day's work.
In retirement, Vaughn and Pat enjoyed extensive travel abroad. Vaughn frequently acknowledged that he lived a blessed life.

It is with sad and heavy hearts, that we announce that Vaughn passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer, fought with humour, courage, grace and dignity on August 6, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia and his mother Joyce of Victoria, BC.
Vaughn was well known as Vice-President and General Manager of Miller Environmental Corporation, from which he retired in 2018. In his retirement years, he and Pat enjoyed golf at Breezy Bend and their travels abroad. A longer obituary will follow. A celebration of Vaughn's life will be held when Covid restrictions allow.
With heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Pat Harris and all the staff at CancerCare, Grace Hospital for their unfailing dedication and compassionate care.
