PAUL BALKARAN
Paul was born in Guyana, the fifth of nine children. In 1968 Paul emigrated from Guyana to Minneapolis where he met his beloved wife of 49 years, Paro. Together they moved to Winnipeg where they eventually started their family raising their three daughters.
During this time Paul was a pioneer in leading the Guyanese community. He will always be remembered as a founder of Lions Cricket Club, Guyanese Association, and The Manitoba Hindu Dharmic Sabha.
In Paul's early years he was an outstanding cricketer and played for 30 years. After retiring from Revenue Canada at the age of 55, he developed a new passion for golf and enjoyed the next 22 years golfing at various golf courses with his friends who he cherished. He also enjoyed travelling with his wife, family and friends. However, there was always a requirement that there be a golf course nearby.
Paul was a devoted grandfather who also enjoyed spending his time with his five grandchildren. He loved teaching them magic tricks, helping them with their math homework, teaching them how to ride a bike, drive a car and of course teaching them how to golf.
Paul always had a smile on his face which could light up a room. He had a magnetic personality and made new friends wherever he went. Paul will forever be known for his kindness and generosity. He would happily drop everything to lend a hand to anyone who needed him.
Paul was predeceased by his mother Budhia, his father Balkaran, his brothers, Soman, Bharat and Sugrim. He is survived by his life partner Paro; daughters, Anita (Alex), Amanda (Tommy) and Savita (Devin); grandchildren, Braeden, Madden, Ava, Danica, Kai; siblings, Indranie, Baby, Mangal (Lilowtie), Bob (Carmen), Eshar (Munzie), sisters-in-law, Lovin, Chandra, Indie, Saroj, Lee, Vad, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

My condolences to your family. Paul was such a easy going person, getting along with everyone, regardless of age difference. I've had few opportunities to sit down with Paul and his family and these moments will be in my memory forever. Happy golfing my friend. - Posted by: Eugene Skotniczy (Friend) on: Aug 30, 2021

To Paul's Family. We wish to express our sincere condolences. Although we only knew Paul for a short time, we felt his kindness and consideration for others. I felt he really enjoyed his brief time at Spruce Sands with his entire family. Well, we didn't get to play our "Hecla" game, but I'll be thinking about you when I do go. Rest in peace. Respectfully, Don and Wendy Griffin (Spruce Sands) - Posted by: Don and Wendy Griffin (Friend at Spruce Sands R.V. park) on: Aug 17, 2021
