ERIN-ROSE HALSTEAD
Erin is survived by her husband of 17 years, Chad; children, Hayden and Katelyn; father and mother Rollie and Sandra; siblings, Sabrina (Marc) and Shawn (Danielle); in-laws, Calvin and Dianne; brother-in-law Brad (Pam); along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and her dog Abby.
Born in Winnipeg, MB, Erin had a passion for hard work and challenges. Always athletic and competitive growing up Erin enjoyed many sports on top of wiping the floor in every card and board game she played. Erin's memory was nick-named 'the vault' if you told her once, she would not forget.
Working numerous jobs, attending school and raising her own family, she never let the stress of her busy life show. Always had a kind smile and open heart. After years of hard work, Erin obtained her bachelor of science in 2015 before obtaining a job at Manitoba Public Insurance.
Erin was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. Always up for a family adventure or a Pearl Jam concert, they loved to travel and enjoy life to its fullest. A highlight was the family trip to Disney World in December 2019.
In April 2019, Erin was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. Erin, being true to herself, became her own advocate and fought for information, time, respect, and understanding in her battle. She became a warrior, inspiring love and support from anyone who met her. The mantra she made the decision to live by was #LoveEveryday.

Although a few years has gone by...Erin, you are not forgotten. The lives you've touched and your unfathomable nature was truly apparent in all you did in life. Your human body may have ceased, but your spirit lives On and On! - Posted by: Christopher Mondragon (Friend) on: Sep 10, 2024

I worked with Erin at MPI. She was friendly, beautiful, funny and always had a smile. And she baked the best banana bread ever. I recall one day we were having a bake sale at work and she brought in banana bread that was just out of the oven....still warm and smelled so delicious. This was after getting the kids ready for school and herself ready for work. Rest in peace Erin. - Posted by: Caty Whettell (Former co-worker) on: Sep 12, 2021

Dear Chad sorry for your loss. I had the honour of caring for this special lady during her cancer treatment. She always kept me on my toes by asking many questions about her treatment and the trial that she was on. She loved her family and spoke about her beautiful children all the time. We both loved cooking and spent a lot of time taking about her recipes and the recipes she was creating for her children. She had left an impact on many lives and will be missed. - Posted by: Kathy Trakalo (Nurse) on: Sep 10, 2021

We moved into our home backing on to the Halstead’s 2 years ago. Erin was the first neighbour we met and she instantly made us feel welcome. We were invited over to their annual Canada Day party and treated like family. We treasure the talks we had in the backyard and wish there could have been more. Erin was warm and genuine. She made us feel valued and loved. We are here for you Chad, Hayden, and Katie. Our hearts break with you. Sending love and prayers of comfort. - Posted by: Sara & Matt (Neighbours) on: Sep 10, 2021

We met Erin nearly 20 years ago when she was working at Boston Pizza on Pembina Hwy. (Chad joined the BP staff soon after.) We have always remembered Erin as caring, interested, and hopeful for a future that she had already mapped out. She always took the time to chat - particularly with Zach, who was only 3 at the time. She would always take a moment to connect with him and ask how his day was. We lost touch with Erin over the years, but while we knew her, we saw her confidence and willingness to share came easily. She was open and energetic in her approach to everything and everyone she brought into her life. She was a determined young woman with goals and a strong focus on a life she wanted to live. We did not know her as a mother but are confident she was proud, engaged and passionate about her family. It saddens our hearts to hear that Erin’s life and dreams were cut short. We will always fondly remember her smile and laughter and her zest for life. Our heartfelt sympathies to you Chad and your family. Rest in peace Erin. My very deepest sympathies to the Cook and Halstead families and friends, and in particular Chad and kids. The Cooks have been the best of neighbour's at the lake and my ❤ is broken for you all. Erin had the most amazing smile, the doorway to her soul. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Giselle (Lake neighbour) on: Sep 10, 2021

Gorgeous inside and out, always full of life no matter what she was going through. Was so great to see her with her family at the last Christmas brunch and at work. She will remain in our hearts. Lots of love to her family. - Posted by: Aileen Sichewski (Friend) on: Sep 10, 2021

I’ll always be grateful for the grace and understanding Erin provided during a moment of motherly panic. While watching my oldest’s soccer game at the park I lost track of my youngest’s whereabouts for what seemed a moment turned into a lifetime. Erin was there, she immediately offered me a calming embrace and assured me all would be ok. It was ‘It takes a village’ I’m sure she said … either way, she offered me no judgment just love. - Posted by: Nicola Little (Lucky enough to be touched by Erin’s Kindness) on: Sep 09, 2021

I’m saddened to hear this. I met her in Esthetics school in 2004. Erin was an influencer before being an “influencer” was a thing - always recommending the best books, movies, and chocolate! Not to mention she always knew exactly which tops were must-haves in Garage Clothings seasonal lineups, critical intel for any young twenty-something in 2004! Although I didn’t keep in touch as much as I had intended, the warm memories I had with her stayed with me including bawling at the movie theatre while we watched The Notebook. In a world of cut-off and ghosting, Erin was an inspiring example of gentle reparation and harmony, always creating cohesiveness in the group. To Erin’s family - I am SO sorry for your loss. She is a beautiful soul and I’m so happy I got to meet her in this lifetime. www.facebook.com/miss.angela.may/posts/10227708164516685 - Posted by: Angela May (Friend) on: Sep 09, 2021

So happy and lucky to have known Erin. Our lives intersected in many ways so I know I was meant to know her and her beautiful heart and mind. What a warrior, an advocate, so intelligent, loving, family first and thoughtful person she was. I learnt lots from her. I will truly miss you Erin💕. My mom will be in Calgary this weekend watching the live feed with your friend from when you were younger and her mom. Jane and Jen. You are so loved! - Posted by: Amy Bain (Friend) on: Sep 09, 2021

I was shocked and devastated to hear of Erin's passing. We worked together at Assiniboine CU many years ago and I always remembered her as one of the sweetest and most genuine co-workers I had. I also knew her parents who are also two of the nicest people I've ever had the privilege of knowing. My deepest condolences to Chad, their children, Erin's parents and their families. - Posted by: Ashley O (Former Co-Worker) on: Sep 09, 2021

I remember Erin well. She was fun, determined and knew her own mind. It is so sad to think of someone so full of life to be gone with so much more of her life left to live. My thoughts and deepest sympathy to her family. - Posted by: Lana McGimpsey (Former school counsellor at J. H. Bruns Collegiate) on: Sep 09, 2021
