PETER ANDREW MICHEL
August 14, 1920 - August 28, 2021
His parents, Leon and Josephine; two sisters, Jeanne and Therese; his loving wife Jean of 62 years, and daughter Louise predeceased him. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory his two daughters, Janice (Tom), Brenda (Brian); and grandchildren, Kristin (Dave) and Stephen (Caroline).
Peter was born in Winnipeg in 1920. As a young boy he enjoyed hockey and excelled at art. Peter served with the Royal Canadian Artillery from 1943 to 1946 and was stationed in Halifax. In 1946 he was hired at the Winnipeg Free Press where he worked for 38 years in a job suited to his artistic talent. He loved working in the "AD Alley" and enjoyed composing the full-page display ads.
Peter enjoyed the summers spent with family at their cottage at Matlock. As a young family they took many trips to the West Coast to visit with his sister Jeanne. Peter and Jean enjoyed trips together to Europe and Hawaii. Peter was a fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Winnipeg Jets.
Peter had a wonderful sense of humour and enjoyed a good joke. He was very meticulous about his possessions and kept his cars and other possessions spotless. Dad enjoyed a glass of red wine with his meals and this may have contributed to his remarkable longevity. He was a wonderful husband, DAD and grandfather.
We wish to express our gratitude to the entire staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge for the care dad received.
Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid there will be a Private Celebration of Life by invitation.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter's memory can be made to the charity of your choice.
