NESTOR SMERCHANSKI
June 22, 1936 - September 10, 2021
He will be sadly missed by his wife Rose of 61 years; children, Wendy (Sylwester), Karen (Brian), Lori (Daniel); grandchildren, Tabetha, Cody (Hanna), Ryan, Shelby; step-grandchildren, Keila, and Brett; great-grandchildren, Kaysten, and Penelope. His sisters, Mary and Pauline, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Nettie Smerchanski; and his siblings, William, Peter and Helen.
He was born June 22, 1936 in Gardenton, MB. He moved to Winnipeg when he was 18 years old and started working for Great West Metal Products for 23 years. He was then hired and started working for the City of Winnipeg, where he worked in many Civic Departments for 24 years.
They bought a hobby farm in Winnipeg Beach and spent many years enjoying the land. He planted hundreds of trees around the yard and created manicured trails in the bush where he would drive several of his tractors and pulled many of his homemade trailers. He also had a passion for making windmills out of different types of metal objects and he displayed them all over the farm yard to be admired. Nestor and Rose travelled for many years taking winter vacations in different places of Mexico and spring vacations in Las Vegas.
The family wishes to thank the Homecare workers who attended to him while he was at home and also the staff at Holy Family Home.
Funeral services will be held on September 18, 2021, 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB.
