GEORGE SIDNEY FREDERICK
BLOOMFIELD
George was born in Winnipeg to Augustus (Gus) (deceased 1985) and Ada (nee Cook) (deceased 2000) Bloomfield on September 14, 1940. George is lovingly remembered by his siblings, Arthur and wife Wendy, Pam, and Howard and wife Beth. Uncle George also is fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and one great-great-niece; Allan and Susan (Alex), James and Naty (Quinn), Victoria (Brody), Dianne and Steve (Issabella and Olivia), (Micheal) and (Dakota), Greg (Ella and Piper).
Also remembering George with much love and devotion are longtime care providers Maurice and Heather Berthelette and their family and friends. We are truly grateful for the love, support and care provided to George over the past 11 years. George thoroughly enjoyed travelling with Maurice and Heather to Vancouver, Vegas and Cuba, but he especially enjoyed his time at the cabin relaxing and fishing.
George was a lover of all things "collectible", especially if they related to Elvis, Superheroes, Disney and baseball caps. Although a staunch Elvis fan, George loved all kinds of music and regularly enjoyed listening to his huge collection of cassettes and CDs. George was an avid 10-pin bowler and spent many, many years bowling with the Blue and Gold League in Winnipeg. Bowling highlights included representing Manitoba at the Special Olympics in Minneapolis and Vancouver. A highlight of George's life was meeting Mickey Mouse at Disneyland in California and going to Elvis' Graceland in Memphis. His most memorable birthday was turning 65 when he had a surprise birthday BBQ with all his bowling buddies and a special visit from an Elvis impersonator.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 4, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue. The service will be live-streamed and available to view on George's obituary page at www.neilbardalinc.com. It will remain available on the website to watch at a later date. Although masks are not required outdoors, the family appreciates attendees wearing masks if possible and respecting social distancing measures.
