CATHERINE HEATHER (HES)
BELLE MACKIE
August 26, 1953 - September 25, 2021
She had a poet's soul, a science fiction writer's creativity and the heart of a hippie.
She will be deeply missed by her brother Craig (Jane); her sisters, Holly (Keith) and Bonnie; dear friends, Garcea and Mike; nephews, Chris, Rob, Mike and their families, as well as numerous extended family members across the globe.
Hes was a best friend ..a kind, open, accepting and compassionate soul who had that rare gift of truly listening to others and allowing them to be exactly who they are .. "Right on", Hes!
The family would like to thank the staff of the Gimli Health Centre, her oncology team and a special thank you to Dr. Stephen Coyle.
As per her wishes, there will be no service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to CancerCare Manitoba or the charity of your choice.
Condolences may be left on her tribute wall

Hes was a friend in my coming of age time in Winnipeg in the ‘60’s. I saw Craig’s Facebook post and thought about it and looked up Passages. I broke down. I’m in tears. She was fantastic. I so regret losing touch. Oh dear. Love you Hes. - Posted by: Graham Smith (Friend ) on: Dec 27, 2021

Neil and I were so sorry to hear this news. We have fond memories of Hes from our crazy youth. She had a quick wit, beautiful smile and contagious laugh. She always provided a shoulder for those of us who suffered any form of “teenage angst”. Rest In peace Hes. Condolences to the family, Garcia and Mike.
