BARBARA OLGA MOORE

Barbara Olga Moore (nee Melnyk), born March 31, 1932, went home to her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, peacefully with family by her side on September 28, 2021, at Calvary Place Personal Care Home.
Barbara was born in Winnipeg, where she lived her entire life. The second youngest of nine children, Barbara grew up in Winnipeg's North End. In 1955, she married Ernest Moore, and they settled in St. Vital to raise their family.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Ernest; her children, Lorelei (Garry), Bruce, Diane (Robert), Anna, and Suzanne (Alan); her grandchildren, Lee, Rhea, Avery, Luke, Paige, and Poppy; and her great-grandchildren, Penny, Mila, Halle, and Willow.
Barbara was an amazing self-taught cook and baker, and she never hesitated to share both her love of food and recipes with her family and friends. An excellent knitter, she started many projects with vigour. She loved spending summers at their cottage in Sandy Hook, where she enjoyed visiting with friends and many long walks. She also enjoyed travelling to Atlanta to visit her son and shop. And she even climbed Stone Mountain at age 76!
Barbara's love of Christmas began in September when the James Last Christmas album would begin to play throughout the house. Many Christmases were spent watching movie classics like A Christmas Carol, It's a Wonderful Life, and Miracle on 34th Street.
Barbara was a proud Baba whose love for her family, was evident at every family get-together. Her love of God was reflected in her passionate devotional life and in her active participation in her summer church home in Komarno, Interlake Full Gospel Assembly, and her Winnipeg Church Home, Gateway Church South. She was always praying for her family and friends.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Calvary Place for their tireless and exceptional care for their Mom in her final six months.
Out of respect for Barbara's wishes, no memorial service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Barbara's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.

We love you, Mom.
We miss you and always will.
We miss your beautiful, infectious laugh.

You gave us all the best thing a parent could ever give their children: each other.

  • I knew Barbara for many years, as well as Suzanne and Anna. Unfortunately we lost contact, but I've always remembered her from Evangel Chapel. My condolences to the family - Posted by: April Girardeau (Friend) on: Nov 22, 2021

  • Mrs. Moore was such a warm and welcoming woman of God! She made everyone who crossed her path feel better for doing so. I loved going to birthday parties at her home as she went above and beyond to make everyone feel as special as the one we were celebrating! I loved her laugh and she is already very missed.
