Gisela was predeceased by her husband Gerd; her parents and her three sisters.
She is survived and will be greatly missed by her son Peter (Mary); her granddaughters, Lisa (Allan), Leanna (Benji); by her great-grandchildren, Sloane, Kaius and Ozzie; by her brother Dieter (Rita); her nieces, Angelica and Petra and extended family and friends in parts of Canada, United States and in Germany.
Gisela lived a full and fulfilling life. In their younger years, Gisela and her husband Gerd travelled extensively. They often visited their homeland Germany and spent many wonderful winters in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. In later years, Gisela volunteered in Donwood Nursing home entertaining the residents with her singing and playing the mouth organ.
As her health declined, Gisela moved to Concordia Place. She very quickly made Concordia her home. There she continued her singing and mouth organ playing to the delight of many residents and staff.
Gisela singing voice was forever silenced on September 24, 2021, when she suffered a stroke. Gisela passed on to eternal life on October 2, 2021.
The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the Concordia Place staff, you have made our mother feel safe, protected, and loved. To Concordia Place chaplain Kayon Gray for your kind, loving support and comforting prayers. Pastor Annemarie MacIntosh thank you for the funeral service. It was our Mother's wish and hope that it would be your prayers sending her to eternal rest.
A private interment ceremony will be held at the Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
Flowers gratefully declined. If you so wish, please donate to your favourite charity.
So many people fill our days,
And yet there are so few that touch
our heart in a warm way like you all do.
That is why you are all special to me,
and you will be special for always.
Because you have always been someone
very special to me - Gisela Lohre.
