ANASTASIA (ANNE) BRASKO
April 15, 1934 – October 17, 2021

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Auntie Anne on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 87.
Auntie Anne was born in Zavada, Slovakia on April 15, 1934 to parents, Joseph and Adele Cernansky. She will be lovingly missed by her nieces, Irene Capka (Joe), Carol-Lee Eckhardt (Bruce), Adele Tait (Trevor), Susan Turbett (Glen) and nephew Ron Eckhardt. Also mourning her loss are her great-nieces, Shelley (Dean), Emma (Dave), Kaylee, Lyndsey and great-nephews, Trevor (Katie), Riley and Jeff. Auntie Anne will also be sadly missed by her great-great-nieces, Kyley and Hailey and great-great-nephews, Alex and Evan. Auntie Anne also leaves behind her two best friends, Sue Panov and Betty Mooney, who both reside in Pentiction, BC; sister-in-law Mary Eckhardt and Diane, Judy and Beverly Himick and their families.
Auntie Anne was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Adele Cernansky; brothers, John (Emma), Steve, Kam (Mary); her first husband Paul Himick and second husband Jerry Brasko.
Auntie Anne came to Canada at the age of four in 1938 with her whole family to begin a new life. The family settled on a farm in Dugald, Manitoba where they ran a dairy and mixed farming operation. Auntie Anne's first job was working in the local telephone office in Dugald and then as a clerk at Eatons. Through church and the Himick family, she met her first husband Paul Himick. They lived a happy life in Penticton, BC, where Auntie Anne worked seasonally at the local cannery. Her main passion was tending her beautiful, flower filled yard, her birds, her dogs over the years all named Ginger, travelling and being a loving housewife to Uncle Paul. After Uncle Paul passed away, Auntie Anne remained in BC until her second marriage to Jerry Brasko and she moved back to Winnipeg. Auntie Anne enjoyed collecting Hummel Ornaments, China Florals and Cross-stitching. After Jerry passed away, Auntie Anne moved to RiverRidge II where she met new friends and enjoyed her last days.
A special thank you to Chassity McIntyre from RiverRidge II for loving and caring for Auntie Anne and to the Doctors, Nurses and Health Care Aides that cared for Auntie Anne when she was in Seven Oaks Hospital.
A private family service will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home to celebrate her life. Father Gerry Ward will be officiating the service.
If family or friends desire, donations may be made in Auntie Anne's name to a charity of one's choice.
Auntie Anne, you will forever be in our hearts and memories. Rest in Peace our dearly loved Auntie Anne.
