LUCILLE ELIZABETH MCLAREN

With love and sadness in our hearts, we are announcing the passing of Lucille McLaren after a long and fulfilling life at the age of 99.
Lucille was born February 1, 1922 in Neepawa, Manitoba to Marguerite and Thorpe Crawford. She had a wonderful life growing up in Neepawa, playing tennis, golf, going to track meets and figure skating.
After graduating high school, she moved to Winnipeg to become a Registered Nurse at the Children's Hospital. Many stories were told over the years of her experiences there, including bearing witness to the first dose of penicillin being administered in Manitoba and its amazing effects.
She spent time as a Public Health Nurse at Ethelbert, Manitoba until she married Jack McLaren. In later years, she worked as a Private Duty Nurse at the old Winnipeg General Hospital. Lucille golfed during the summer at Breezy Bend Golf Club, where she was a member for 32 years and she loved to curl during the winter. She was also an accomplished photographer and woodworker. She and her husband Jack spent many wonderful vacations down south in their motorhome. They loved Palm Springs.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Jack in 2010, after 64 years of marriage; her parents and her sister Margie.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Wendy (Jim), Debbie (George) and son Don. Mom also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Scott (Sandy) and Lindsay (Michael) as well as great-grandchildren, Ashleigh, Ainsley, Brooke and Colton. Mom's final resting place will be in Neepawa by her husband's side.
A special thank you goes out to all the wonderful staff at Meadowood Care Home. We can't say enough about the excellent care she received while there for seven years. God Bless all of you. Graveside interment will be held at a later date at the Neepawa Cemetery.
