SHIRLEY CONSTANCE POOLE
September 19, 1926 - October 29, 2021
She is survived by her sons, Glenn, Brent (Marie), Shawn (Patricia), and her daughter Darcia Albrechtsen (Robert); and her grandchildren, Corinna, Warren (Amy), Andrew, Riley, Jonathan, Amy, Jaida and Anika; and great-grandchildren, Payton and Henri.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Barrie; by her parents, Connie and Stan Fairclough; brother Glenn, daughter-in-law Karen; and lifelong friends, Peggy Wallace and Shirley Wharton.
Shirley worked at the Grain Exchange and then the CPR before retiring to raise her family. She lived by example and was a wonderful role model. She was always willing and able to lend a hand to someone in need. She volunteered at Children's Hospital for five years and then turned her attention to CancerCare Manitoba where she volunteered for over 40 years. She was recognized by the Governor General of Canada for this service. Shirley was a woman of faith and shared her time and talent for over 60 years with Grey Street United Church. She taught Sunday School, played the piano, acted at dinner theaters, was a member of the choir and the UCW, and sang with Sisters of the Holy Rock. She loved animals and our home was never without a pet(s) growing up. Shirley also loved the lake (Malachi) where she made many lifelong friendships over the past 51 years.
A private service will be held for family followed by a Celebration of Life later when health regulations permit a larger gathering.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gergis and the staff in Urgent Care and 3 West at Concordia Hospital for their compassion and care that they provided throughout Shirley's final journey.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in memory of Shirley Poole to CancerCare Manitoba, Grey Street United Church, or an animal shelter of your choice.
Heaven is no longer missing an angel.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)
I am saddened to hear of Shirley's passing. She was the dearest of friends and we had so many fun times. A few stick out: One day bicycling home from business school on Ellis avenue a bus drew up beside us, the door opened and the driver hollered "do you two want a ticket?" to which Shirley replied, without missing a beat, "where to?". She was incredibly quick witted. Looking to make Christmas money, we got jobs at Eaton Department store. When I got a break from the candy counter (how lucky was I?) I went in search of Shirley. I finally found her in the basement weighing a piece of meat toting a butchers hat and frok. Bad luck for her but she took it in stride. Saturday was our weekly trip to the bowling alley. On one occasion we were stunned silent by a flasher. Image us silent. After a few awkward moments, we resumed our chatter. Many of my fondest memories and moments were when I was invited to her house and simply sat and marveled at her piano playing. She could easily have been a concert pianist, in my opinion. Glenn, Brent, Shawn, Darcia and families. We are sorry to hear of your loss. Your mom, "Mrs. Poole", was always there for us in our times of need.
