JOHN STEPHEN WADDELL
March 13, 1945 - November 11, 2021
John was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Stephen Waddell. He is survived by his wife Gaylene; sisters-in-law, Lorelee Lytle and Leslie Cleven; nephews, Jeff Lytle, Creag Lytle (Jessica), Brian Cleven; and niece Raegan Cleven (Michael); and great-nephew Alexander; great-nieces, Elizabeth, Everly, and Nola.
John is best known as an accomplished potter and later as a Volvo salesperson and wood furniture store owner. He loved all animals, especially his dogs, cars, cameras, electronics, and music. He was also an avid reader. We are fortunate to have many of his pottery pieces to enjoy and remember him by.
We wish to thank the staff at CBI home care services and Seven Oaks Hospital for the care given to John in his final days.
In accordance with John's wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. We will mourn his loss privately.
If desired, donations in John's memory can be made to Parkinson Canada or any animal shelter of your choice.

Dear Gaylene, I don't know why I searched the Free Press obituaries today, 23 October, 2022, but I did and found that John passed away very nearly a year ago. My condolences, of course, but how are you doing? I'd love to hear from you. - Larry - Posted by: Lawrence Kunz (Friend) on: Oct 23, 2022

Gaylene, Ryan and I just heard this morning that John had passed. We were both so sad to hear this. Ryan could never have survived Mathon Motors without John. His philosophies on life and his playful spirit made work more enjoyable. Fond memories are too many to count or describe. John made an impression. So sad for you as you process this hard loss. Our hearts go out to you. Love, Steina and Ryan - Posted by: Steina Bessason and Ryan Semchuk (Friends) on: Nov 25, 2021

Gaylene and Family.....I was surprised and shocked to hear of John's passing. I always valued John's friendship and always enjoyed a visit and discussion with him. John was one of a kind and Leslie and I both marvelled at his skills on the wheel. After effortlessly throwing a beautiful piece we always waited for the "now that's art" proclamation!! Leslie would be so sad. She loved John and treasured her time with him, whether discussing his view of the world, having him help her to throw pots, fire the kiln, assessing the results, and just hanging out. He will be missed and I hope you find peace in this most difficult time....Neil Kembel - Posted by: neil kembel (Friend) on: Nov 22, 2021
