RETA BERNUSKY
Reta was predeceased by her parents, husband Peter and son Mervin; two brothers, and a sister. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Elaine (Rod); three grandchildren, Trevor (Tiffany), Christine (Luis), Steve (Shaun); and seven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kennedy, Emerson, Carson, Connor, Amanda and Madison; a special niece Merna from Ottawa, and extended family Michael, Kelly and Carla of Calgary.
Mom was born in Pineridge on September 6, 1926 and as a young girl worked at the Pineridge Golf Course, later marrying and moving into Winnipeg. She also worked at Eatons Coat Check and Donwood Manor as a cook. She loved making crafts over the years including ceramics, knitting, and making Christmas wreaths and decorations. Her kitchen was always busy making perogys, homemade soups, preserves from the garden, and planting her flowers. Reta enjoyed her outings to the seniors club and loved a great game of cards or crib with dad, puzzling in her block and having tea with the girls.
Her greatest joy was to have her family around her.
The family would like to thank the Health Care staff and Recreation at Bethania Personal Care Home for their genuine concern and compassionate care over the years.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Green Acres Funeral Home & Cemetery, Highway No. 1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg, MB. Masks are mandatory and guests will be required to provide photo ID and proof of being fully vaccinated.
The service may be joined virtually by accessing the website www.greenacresfuneralhome.com, search for Reta's obituary under "RECENT OBITUARIES", click on her name and then scroll down to the "SERVICES" section under the obituary, then click on the "JOIN LIVESTREAM" link.

It was with sadness that we learned of Reta's passing, My mother Rose Franklin and Reta's friendship began when Reta's son Mervin was a frequent visitor to Lankys in Grand Marais over 40 years ago. Over the years, they stayed in touch and were involved in some of the same community clubs playing cards together. It did not matter how much time had passed since they last saw each, they picked up as if it was yesterday. I would have loved to been at her celebration of life, I live down here in Hawaii now that our mom has passed, but I wanted to send my love and condolences to her family. - Posted by: Bill (Rose Franklin's son) (Friend) on: Jan 11, 2022

Sending our condolences to the entire Bernusky family as we just learned of her passing this evening. We watched the lovely funeral on line but would have rather attended in person had we known ... We have many good memories of the many visits over the years ... She will surely be missed by all. - Posted by: Don & Brenda Palidwor (Nephew) on: Dec 09, 2021
