ROBERT (BOB) HAROLD CLELAND
April 19, 1938 - November 23, 2021
Bob is survived by his wife, Verla (nee Doble), brother, Len (Merle), children, Marla and Michael (Kristie), grandchildren, Ana, Michelle and Cooper, and nephew, Ken. He was predeceased by his parents, Isabella and Harold, and his sister, Janet.
Bob and Verla were married on November 25, 1961 and shared 60 happy years together. They lived and worked in various cities before settling permanently in Winnipeg when Marla and Michael were young. Bob and Verla enjoyed good health into their 80's and did a lot of travelling with friends after they retired.
Bob worked for many years at Manitoba Public Insurance before retiring in 1996. He maintained lasting friendships with his work buddies who, after retirement, would get together for lunch every Thursday. Bob rarely missed one of these occasions!
All who knew Bob will remember him fondly, and he will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. He enjoyed many of life's simple pleasures, like spending time with his grandchildren, golfing and enjoying a good glass of scotch. He took care of all who were close to him and was always there to help, whether it was washing his neighbours' windows, or cooking turkeys and decorating for the fall supper at St. Andrew's United Church.
Cremation has taken place. At Bob's request, there will be no funeral service.
The family extends its thanks to the staff at Riverview Health Centre, palliative care and the Grace Hospice for their care, compassion and support in this time of Bob's need.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Harvest Manitoba or your local food bank would be appreciated.

I was deeply sorry to hear of the passing of mom’s good neighbor Bob. Bob was a great friend of my dads. They spent many hours in their gazebos having a beer. After dad passed Bob and Verla were so helpful, on a daily basis, to my mother who was diagnosed with ALS. Our family was ever so grateful for their neighborly support. We will all miss Bob and his contagious smile and pass on our deepest sympathy to Verla. You guys were really the best neighbors ever!
