I am from God's Lake Narrows but moved in the city years later after knowing Joe. Joe became a family friend while he worked back home. He was so loved in the community. He had so much love to the people. I didn't take to him at first but time did He eventually became a very good friend. I still have a picture of him holding my first born son. Joe and I used to hang out a lot and I still play the music we use to listen to. One song he wanted played when I died was Knocking On Heaven's Door. Joe, my dear friend Joe, I just recently found out you died and I wasn't even that far away. I didn't know you were just an hour away. I still think of you always, My joe I will see you again in another time another place - Posted by: frances Watt (friend) on: May 14, 2023

I'm saddened to hear of Joe's passing and offer my deepest condolences to Angie and his sons and family. I worked with Joe for many years in the north and we spent many good times together. I saw Joe a few months ago at his apartment in Selkirk and am sad to hear the news. All our condolences to the family on your loss. - Posted by: harry OPHOF (friend from work) on: Dec 28, 2021

Sincere condolences to Sergeant Joe's wife, children and extended family. Taken much to young from his family at age 66. We only met Sgt Joe once, quite some time ago when he was stationed in Lundar and we had our new cattle oiler stolen from our farm. He came out on the call and made a lasting impression because he was so personable and friendly. I recall him telling us that he was soon leaving the detachment for a post at Tuktoyaktuk, NWT which I thought was cool because Stompin' Tom Connor's sang about the place. Also the day he came out to investigate was the first and last time that we had received fresh rock on a municipal Ag road. The sharp rock resulted in poor Sgt Joe having a flat tire on his police cruiser when he drove to the field to investigate. I believe he and his wife then had plans to retire on the East Coast somewhere. I trust he made a positive lasting impression in every Community that he served. - Posted by: Charlene Kaartinen (Eriksdale community member) on: Dec 18, 2021
