ELEANOR MARGARET DANCHUK
(CLARK)
1926 - 2021

Eleanor passed away peacefully December 16, 2021. Born in Winnipeg to James and Mary Clark on September 22, 1926, she married Nestor (Danny) in 1949 and enjoyed a full life raising daughter Bev Cooper (John) and son Greg (Lorna Durdle).
Elly is survived by Bev, John, Greg and Lorna, grandchildren, Josh (Kim), Erik (Robin) and Nolan (Savannah), and great-grandchildren, Kaidence, Braedyn, Daxton, Harper, Wyatt, Brooklyn and Theodore. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Danny, brother Jim and sister-in-law Hazel.
Elly spent most of her life in Winnipeg but also lived in Dauphin and Calgary. She and Danny had a special group of friends, some for over 70 years, who were like a second family to them. Mom liked her sports, from hockey to football to horse racing and many more, but most of all was a diehard Blue Bomber fan right to the end, seeing them win another Grey Cup just days before she passed. Elly was a competitive skater and bowler and continued bowling well into her later years. She particularly enjoyed fishing with Danny during the many years they spent at Falcon Lake. Involved in many community groups including the IODE, she was always busy. Mom especially enjoyed her time at and the people of Windsor Park United Church.
A big thank you to the team at Catherine Place, to Traci and the St. Boniface Home Care team and to all those in N2East at Concordia Hospital. And a special thanks to Mom's longtime friend Cheryl Braun for being so supportive and wonderful.
Cremation has taken place, a service will be held at a later date when gathering is easier and the weather better.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I loved working with Eleanor at Munroe Day Care. You didn’t mess with her, and you didn’t ever feel unloved or unappreciated. Thank you to Cheryl, for always keeping the Munroe Gang updated on how she was doing, and relaying our well wishes to her. Sleep well, Eleanor, and thanks for the memories. Many prayers for peace and comfort, for her family. - Posted by: Erin L Hilderman (Former coworker) on: Jan 14, 2022

  • Bev and Greg, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom. She was a wonderful neighbour and friend to my Mom and Dad (Shirley and Mel). Dad and your Mom spoke on the phone once in awhile. We lost Mom and Dad this year, in fact Dad's obituary is in the the paper today and I went to see it and I saw your Mom's name! We will be thinking of you and your family over Christmas. Janice, Lauren and Drew. - Posted by: Janice Gudmundson (Bailey) (Neighbour) on: Dec 24, 2021
