RAYMOND KOOP
July 15, 1961 - December 22, 2021
Ray, age 60, from Steinbach went to be with Jesus after a long battle with bladder and bone cancer.
Ray is survived by his wife Carmelyn, children, Brittany Enns (Jake), Breanna Giesbrecht (Tyler), Braelyn Koop, Hailey Watts (Brydon), Cassidy Duncan, parents, Herman and Martha Koop, Anne Peters, brothers, Barry Koop (Lorie), Christopher Koop (Michelle) and Ross Peters (Sandra), two grandchildren, two nephews and two nieces.
Ray fought a great fight maintaining his sense of humour to the very end. His career as a nurse and a senior level healthcare executive enabled him to use his God given talents to care for others. His children and stepchildren were his pride and joy. Ray is more alive today than he has ever been. We celebrate that he is in the arms of his Saviour and we are grateful for the memories and laughter that Ray brought to us all. His was a life well lived.
The public come and go viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 PTH 52W, Steinbach, MB. The private funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel and will be available via livestream.

We are so sad to hear of Ray's passing. Ray was a friend and always made a special effort to let people know he cared about them. A few years ago I was a guest of the Steinbach Arts Council's Anniversary Celebration. I directed a host of Treble Teens who had come to perform for this event. Ray came especially for the event and spent time talking to me about all the wonderful experiences he had during the Treble Teen years helping us in every way he could. Ray also called me on one of his trips to Calgary (our home) and we met for coffee. He was a special, wonderful and caring human and will be missed by so many who knew and loved him.
