JUDITH APPELT
(nee WEST)
She is survived by her children, Blake Appelt (Leslie), Trina McGregor (Alan), and Wade Appelt (Jaime); brother Warren West (Marlene); sister Norma West; grandchildren, April Haight (Brad), Allysa Appelt (Stephen), and Jessica Appelt (Nate).
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Charles, only a few short weeks ago, and her daughter, Liana in 2016.
Judy grew up in St. James on Rutland Street in her mother's childhood home. The West family were local St. James grocery store owners. In her younger years Judy would be seen helping in the store and running errands for her parents.
She was an avid five pin bowler. She enjoyed socializing with her many friends and was a member of the St. James Legion where she enjoyed participating in their weekly meat draws.
Judy was a stay home mom for several years but returned to work once the kids were older. She worked for many years at Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries in various roles.
We will miss you terribly. Love you always.

To the Appelt family, I'm so shocked and sad to hear of Judy's passing so soon after Charles. I still have the tiny little glasses Judy gave me so long ago. She was a wonderful woman, always interested in how things were going. And she was a good bowler too! She and Charles were a bowling force to be reckoned with. The only comfort for you is that Judy and Charles are together again, always. My sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: Janis Richards (Friend of family, bowling buddy) on: Feb 04, 2022

My wife Janet and myself spent a few enjoyable years bowling in the Eatons Retirees League out of the St. James Alleys. What a competitive couple. Myself with Charles and Janet with Judy. Might they both enjoy being on the same team. Fire them hard Charles we like the Thunder from the Heavens. Keep them straight Judy. As the wooden pins take their tumble we bowlers take our tumble also. Rest Easy to the both of YOU....Bill Dubas - Posted by: Bill Dubas (friend) on: Jan 06, 2022

Deepest condolences to Judy’s family. I worked with Judy and Charles for many years. Judy and I worked closely and she was a pleasure to work with. I know this is a huge loss for her family and I’m so very sorry. - Posted by: Grace Forbister (Co-worker and friend) on: Jan 04, 2022

We were neighbours 2 doors up at 365 Rutland. to the West family until 1950 or so. I remember them so well. My Dad was very good friends with theirs and especially with his brother, who passed away very young while fixing a car or truck. I am 4 years older than Judy was but I babysat, played yard games with them, not so much with Warren as he was a little blonde baby running around. We all lost touch when we moved to the Air Force PMG's on Mooregate st. I remember Judy. She always helped her mom so much and was a real organizer. I found this notice to be quite moving for me, it brought back so many good memories. I am sorry for your loss. b - Posted by: Barbara Smith {Rawsthorne] (one time neighbour) on: Jan 04, 2022

I am truly sorry for your loss. Trina is mentioned as Judith’s daughter. I’m not sure if this is the same Trina I used to work for at HSC but wanted to convey my sincere condolences. - Posted by: Judith McFarland (Acquaintance ) on: Jan 03, 2022
