CECIL LOUGHERY
September 5, 1931 - January 11, 2022
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dad Cecil, at the age of 90. He died peacefully surrounded by his family. Cecil lived a long and happy life.
He is survived by his wife Laura of 67 years. They shared a rich and loving life together. He will also be missed by his son Keith (Joanne); daughter Darlene; and grandchildren, Mark, Dave, Garrett, Keith, Maria, Ashley; and his sister Martha. It is with great pride he has three beautiful great-granddaughters, Ivy, Abby and Allyssa. He is predeceased by his oldest child Cecil Jr. in 1991 (they're together now); also his four brothers and one sister. He has many family members that will also remember him dearly.
Cecil grew up on a farm in Teulon, Manitoba. He met the love of his life Laura in the Qu'Appelle Valley and two years later they started their life together. He was a proud member of The Winnipeg Transit for 31 years. During that time Cecil received multiple Operator of the Month awards, and also became Operator of the Year in 1987. He stayed true to his values in every aspect of his life. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone at any time. Upon retirement, Cecil loved to putter around the farm. He loved gardening, caring for his animals, cutting wood, fixing small engines or any projects that he needed done. Cecil and Laura loved to camp with their children. In their retirement years, they enjoyed many cruises. Cecil loved a good meal and sharing happy times with family and friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Selkirk Hospital for their exceptional care. The family also wishes to thank the many family and friends who reached out to support us.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Cecil's memory to a charity of your choice.
A private interment gathering will be held at this time. A celebration of his life where we can gather with family and friends will be considered once COVID restriction are eased.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Cease. I enjoyed many days and nights sitting with Laura and Cease in there backyard. Also enjoying tomatoes and green and yellow beans that Cease grew. My thoughts and prayers are with you. - Posted by: Karen Rice (Used to be neighbours before I moved back to Newfoundland) on: Jan 26, 2022
