RAUL EUSEBIO GEMENTIZA
1948 - 2022

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Raul E. Gementiza, announce his passing on January 12, 2022 at the age of 73 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Elisa; children, Rochelle (Jason), Rhea (Michael), and Ricci; and especially missed by his grandchildren, Nico, Luella, Aviana and Noelle. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Juan and Concepcion Gementiza; his sister, Estelita Saulo; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Felix and Amada Taylo; sister-in-law Gloria Palmer; niece Carmela Dimaapi; brother-in-law Bonifacio Taylo; and brother-in-law Manuel Taylo. He is survived by his siblings, Juanito (Ophelia), Briccio (Mila), Francis (Myrna), Angel, Luisa Crisostomo (Jaime), Pilar and Carlos (Dina); as well as in-laws, Ofelia Legaspi (Sergio), Herminia Urguelles (Armando), Gina Taylo, Eday Taylo; and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Raul was born in Pasay City, Philippines on March 6, 1948 and immigrated to Canada in March 1975. He was a valued employee at MacDon Industries for 39 years in the welding department and retired as a senior supervisor in 2014. After retiring, he enjoyed travelling throughout Europe, Asia, Australia and Hawaii and bonding with his grandchildren in Portland and Calgary. Raul was always known for his friendly smile, willingness to help friends and family, and easygoing and welcoming personality. He liked to laugh, but he took greater enjoyment in making others laugh with his jokes and stories, especially his grandchildren with whom he had a special connection. Raul was a man of deep faith who lived his life as a devout servant of God.
Viewing and prayer service (lamay) was held at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to midnight.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at St. Anthony of Padua Church with Father Dominic Yuen officiating. Please note the service has been restricted to family members as capacity restrictions have been met. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and numerous friends and family who have provided support and prayers during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada in memory of Raul.
