BARBARA LOU POOLES
(nee KENNEDY)

April 10, 1934 – January 18, 2022

On Tuesday January 18, 2022, Mum entered into her eternal home in Heaven. She was 87.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Bill; her children, Brent (Joanne) and Shannon (Jeff); her grandchildren, Ashley (Matthew), Morgan (Josiah), Taylor (Erin), Spencer (Carl), Kelsey (Thomas) and Kellen; and her great-grandchildren, Chase, Makena, Forrest, Madden and Crew.
Mum grew up on Home Street in Winnipeg, MB. Mum was very gifted in singing and dancing, she was often asked to preform at various events. She was also actively involved at St. Margaret's Anglican Church singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School and Youth. It is there that Mum met Dad. They started dating in 1949 and married three years later in 1952. This July they would have celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary. Their love and commitment to each other was evident to everyone around them.
Mum and Dad built their life together in Fort Garry where they lived and raised their family. They attended St. Paul's Anglican Church where she again was very involved. In the 70s, they were led to a more personal relationship with Jesus through the Charismatic Renewal. Shortly after that, they started The Fort Garry Cell Church in which they led for many years.
Travelling is what they enjoyed doing together. They were blessed to spend 34 winters in Maui, Hawaii. In their later years, they wintered in Phoenix, AZ. Many memories were made with very special friends.
Mum had a strong faith which she passed down to her children and grandchildren. Many hours were spent in prayer for her family and others. She was a true prayer warrior. She taught us to take everything to the Lord, to trust Him, even when you don't understand. The legacy she leaves behind will continue for many generations.
She will be truly missed. We know she is in Heaven and have the assurance that we will be reunited with her again.
Whether on the phone or in person, Mum always left by saying "Love You Big.". Mum, we love you big!
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Siloam Mission.

We were blessed to share many many years as neighbors during winters in Phoenix and summers in Winnipeg. Great memories and wonderful friendship. • Our deepest sympathy to Bill, Brent and Shannon and their spouses and families. We always enjoyed the short visits we had at family gatherings. Sincerely, Eddie and Elaine - Posted by: Eddie & Elaine Kennedy (Eddie’s cousin) on: Jan 23, 2022

  • Chiller Thriller Friday snuggle nights, your basement on Farwell, where I learned to sing some songs, swimming in your pool, all come to mind, contributing to so many more memories that influenced my very young years - in such a favourable way. Your Mom was a constant presence in my early years. I have so many fond childhood memories of her and your entire family. My sincerest condolences to your entire family on the loss of such a lovely woman. Diane Crowe (Daun), Fort Garry neighbour. - Posted by: Diane Crowe (Neighbour) on: Jan 23, 2022
