LEONARD CARL (LEN) HOLMSTROM
July 17, 1936 - January 15, 2022
Our Husband, Father and Grandfather, Len, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his bride of over 62 years, Jo-Anne.
He is survived by Jo-Anne; his children, Ken (Patti), Don (Christine) and Joan (Jeff); and his grandchildren, Jeff (Calley), Erik (Stephenie), Kathleen (Stefan), Adam, Hannah (Felix) and Madelaine. There is nothing he would not have done for them.
Len spent his working life in the banking industry working in various locations throughout the prairie provinces and NW Ontario for over 40 years.
Len made many friends wherever he went and wherever he lived and worked. Many fond memories were created over the years, usually over an evening of playing cards. His attempts at a witty remark will be missed by all.
Len loved all sports. He grew up boxing, playing football and curling in Thunder Bay. In later years, he continued enjoying those sports and hockey as a spectator but kept on golfing and curling for as long as he could. He also loved puttering in the garden with Jo-Anne, taking great pride in the yearly harvest and the roses he grew.
The family is grateful to Shepherd's Care Millwoods for the compassionate and professional care provided over the past 18 months.
Due to circumstances of Covid-19, a small Celebration of Life for immediate family and invited guests will be held on January 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. MST. A livestream link set up through Hainstock's Funeral Home can be viewed at dignitymemorial.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories or Shepherd's Care Foundation.
Expressions of sympathy can be forwarded to the family via the website, www.hainstockedmonton.com

Dear Jo-Anne and family, I have many fond memories of you Jo-Anne and of course Len. You were both lovely people to know when we lived on Salisbury Crescent in Winnipeg. I am very much aware of the loss you have suffered as I lost Doug to Alzheimer’s disease not even a year ago. Len will be a great loss to you all, one that you won’t soon forget. Be thankful for the long time you had with him and be aware of all of the wonderful things he gave to you in his life time.
