1925 - 2022

It is with great sorrow that we, the family of Nadia Hargreaves, announce her passing January 20, 2022.
Nadia was born March 1, 1925 in Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1930, settling in St. Boniface with her family.
In the 1950s Nadia started a career as a hairdresser and instructor at American House of Beauty and owned her own business, Nadia's Hairdressing in the 1960s. Nadia later worked for Sears Polo Park, Concourse Sports and part time for The Bay Unicity. Dad always joked she could sell ice to an Eskimo.
In her retirement years Mom was a volunteer at the Grace Hospital Auxiliary and served as president. On a trip to Newfoundland for a conference, she and her friends happily "kissed the cod and drank the Screetch"! She made many friends through the auxiliary and while serving on one of the women's groups of Kirkfield Park United Church.
Family was #1 to Nadia as evidenced by her taking time off from work to care for her daughter Nena-Mary who passed June 1982. She was always cooking and baking for friends and family and was she ever good at it! The staff at the Royal Bank and the service department at Birchwood GMC always welcomed her delicious gifts of goodies. Nadia was a woman of great grace and beauty and her love and values will live on with her children, family and all those she touched.
Nadia was predeceased by the love of her life Tom, who she spent 55 wonderful years with, her daughter Nena-May, her parents and in-laws, sister Anne Humiski, sister Luba Jaycena, twin sister Vera Marlais, nephew Robert Humiski and great-great-nephew Jimi Humiski. Surviving is her son Randy Hargreaves of Montreal, daughter Vera-Lynn and husband Dan Fisher of San Antonio Texas, nephews, Bill Humiski and Stephen Jaycena, nieces, Shirly and John Schritt, Barbara Humiski, Carol Gilmore, great-nieces, Brittney Krumins, Cailin Ashmore, Krissy Gilmore, Melanie Mattson and great-nephew Jim Humiski.
All who knew her loved her and her light will shine on in them.
Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or any animal shelter of your choice.

  • Another Wonderful Women has taken her final journey... My Mother Marjorie Kwiatkowski Jultpy 28th, 2021at the age of 91. Our family had the most upmost respect for Tom and Nadia. My Mom spoke of Nadia with such respect and admiration. She called her a respectful, loving and giviving women. A women of grace and compassion. When Nena passed away our lives where shattered. We learnt to rebuild and move forward. When Nena's Hisband our brother Greg passed away Feb 9, 2022 is when my Mother felt what it was like to lose a child. Nadia was an inspiration to My Mother. She wanted to help with the loss of Nena but there seemed to be a mutual respect between Nadia and my Mother. Nena was a very important person in the Kwiatkowski family. Her memory lives on in us. Her Mother was a beautiful kind soul. May her spirit be embraced with all the heavenly stars. May she rest in the comfort of peace knowing she is reunited with the ones she loves. Thank you Nadia for being a inspiration to Mom and sharing the losses throughout the years. In fact, it has made us better, caring loving people. All the Best to Randy and Vera. We are grateful to have had the pleasure of knowing your Mom. Rest in heaving peace. From the Kwiatkowski Family. - Posted by: Shari Keeler.
