BENT JENSEN
It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our dad, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather, Bent Jensen, aged 87, on January 20, 2022 at the Health Sciences Centre. He is now once again reunited with our mom (Else) who predeceased him six months ago.
He leaves behind to mourn his daughters, Lene (Glenn, Braden, Miranda), Lisbeth (Don, Kyle (Kelly), Danielle (Greg) Kayden, Braxton, Greyson, Vanessa (Bel)).
Dad was born August 22, 1934 in Glumso, Denmark to Henry and Oda. Dad was very adventurous and at a young age, worked in different countries in various jobs. He fished, farmed and mined in his early years, as he discovered other parts of the world. On his own, he visited New York and Canada and it was after that he knew Canada was where he wanted to live.
He met our mom in 1959 and in 1960 they married and immigrated to Canada, crossing the ocean by ship, landing in Halifax and taking the train to Winnipeg. Dad was very social and had that ability to talk to anybody with ease, a friend was just a conversation away. Dad and mom loved to travel and visited many parts of Canada, the States and trips back to Denmark.
Dad was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Oda; in-laws, Karl and Marie Pedersen; sister Annie Jensen; brother Per Jensen; brother-in-law Verner Pedersen and brother in-law Alfred Reitz.
Dad is survived by his sister-in-law Tove Reitz and her family; also Knud and Jytte Pedersen, all of Denmark.
We will miss dad immensely, but take comfort that he lived a full and rewarding life. Due to Covid restrictions, a private family service has already taken place.
We would like to thank Dr. Pelletier and the nurses of the Health Sciences Centre who ensured his final days were peaceful and that he was not alone. Dr. Shokri, his family doctor who took great care of him. MaryLou, his care worker, who brought him much happiness to his daily life. Margaret and the staff at Lions 5th floor who even in his short time with them, took care of him. Timmalee who was instrumental in assisting dad with the help he needed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Main Street Project
