ANNA (ANITA) BURIK
(nee PADOBA)
Born August 28, 1922 -
Died January 25, 2022
(age 99)
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Anna (Anita) Burik at the age of 99 at the St. Boniface Hospital.
A special loving soul she left her earthly body to ascend to Heaven. She held a firm faith in The Lord Jesus Christ and a firm commitment to her Church.
Anita was predeceased by her husband John, daughter Karen and her five siblings. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Richard (Joy) and Terry (Vali); eight grandchildren and five great- grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Helen and Josephine.
Anna (Anita) Burik was born to Mike and Anna Padoba in the Brooklands area of Winnipeg on August 28, 1922. She married John Burik and they spent 57 happy years together. They bought a home on Ruperstland Avenue in Winnipeg where they raised their family of three children, Richard, Karen, and Terry. She dearly loved her family and her many lifelong friends. She was an excellent cook and thoroughly enjoyed preparing traditional Ukrainian meals for her houseful of family and friends. She worked in various jobs, and especially enjoyed her years waitressing at The Bay's Georgian Room.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and she will be interned in the Brookside Cemetery family plot next to her husband John. The funeral will be held virtually at a later date. Notification will be announced in the Free Press.
Anita will be remembered for her huge heart, kindness and generosity to all she came across.
We will all miss you dearly
Mom, (Baba), you made this world a brighter and better place with you in it.
May God Bless, Rest in peace.
