SANDRA LOUISE (SMITH) PIDLUBNY

With Heavy Hearts the family announces the sudden passing of Sandra Louise (Smith) Pidlubny age 62, at St. Boniface Hospital on January 28, 2022.
Sandra survived various forms of cancer throughout the years, sadly she had a brief battle with a rare cancer that was too strong for her to beat. She fought Brave and Proud with her family by her side.
Sandra was born April 26, 1959 in Port Arthur, ON, grew up in Fort Frances on beautiful Rainy Lake, and attended Fort Frances High School. Then moved to International Falls, MN for a brief time. Eventually off to the big city of Winnipeg where she adopted her daughter. Sandra worked hard her entire life and for 25 years at IGA in the meat department as manager, until illness forced her early retirement in 2019.
Sandra enjoyed music, gardening her beautiful yard, nature and the lake, the sound of loons and her cats, she especially enjoyed family and friend visits, getting Tattoos to celebrate the milestones in her life.
Sandra is survived by her daughter Erin Louise, grandson Landon Juel, her sisters, Lisa Plourde (Darcy) of Keewatin, ON, Shari Ossachuk (Dwayne) of Fairview, AB and Debbie Welling (Tony) of Anola, MB, numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Aunts and Uncles, and her BFF Bonnie Dagenais and fur baby Coraline.
Predeceased by her brother Shawn Allen 1965, mother Audrey Louise Smith 1986, father Gordon Donald Smith 1989.
We will miss Sandra's unique style (plaid flannel), her easy-going nature and her big heart. Sandra is very much loved and will remain forever in our hearts.
As per Sandra's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I was Sandy's next door neighbor for over 20 years on Windsor Avenue. We had many an evening chat on our back steps, smoking in the dark into the wee hours with our coffee. She was a great neighbor, always willing to lend a hand or an ear. She was great with my two dogs Zig and Webster, and acted as babysitter when called upon. We weren't best friends, but would stop and chat, even just a slight wave, she always had a smile. I moved away this past winter and thought about my neighbor (friend) Sandy and wondering how she was. My deepest sympathies to Erin and Landon who she loved beyond words, rest in peace Marlene - Posted by: Marlene Ellis (Next door neighbor for over 20 years) on: Apr 29, 2022

  • I lived across the street from Sandy and used to babysit her. Then she became bff’s with my sister Bonnie. I remember Sandy as a quiet sweet kid. Then as an adult she had a giant heart, she was a good friend to Bonnie. My condolences to her family. Rest In Peace Sandy - Posted by: Georgine Salmonson (Gray) (Friend) on: Feb 05, 2022
