MARVIN CHARLES JURY

Marvin passed away on Sunday evening, February 6, 2022, with his son Wayne, and daughter Virginia, at his side.
He was born to Hazel and William (Bill) Jury on September 13, 1935, on a farm in Clanwilliam, Manitoba, the second youngest of five boys. In 1939, when Marvin was four, the family moved from Clanwilliam to a farm in Crawford Park, on the west side of Clear Lake, in the Audy district. They moved again in 1945 to Neepawa where the boys finished their schooling.
It was in Neepawa that Marvin met his future wife, Victoria Siwak, who was waitressing at the time. They moved to Winnipeg in 1957 and were married on July 4, 1959.
Marvin initially worked as a mechanic for Earle Hiebert on Academy Road. In the 1960s he was a driver for Jessiman Brothers Cartage, a business that was later acquired by the Canada Post Office where he drove a mail delivery truck until his retirement in 1992 at age 57.
In retirement, Marvin was an avid walker, pool player, fishing and very accomplished at cribbage. He loved western movies and songs and, of course, chocolate. He was strong enough to weather pneumonia and COVID-19 in 2020, and even hip surgery in November 2021.
Marvin was predeceased by his parents, his wife Victoria; his older brothers, Jim and Gordon and their wives, Clara and Wilma; and his younger brother Harvey. He is survived by his son Wayne (Joanne), and daughter Virginia Kowalski (Frank); and by brother Harold; and sisters-in-law, Kathy and Joy, and families.
The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of Pembina Place Personal Care Home for all their kind care and assistance over this past year.
It is requested that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a gift or donation in remembrance of Marvin do so to a charity of their choice that reminds them of Marvin.
A funeral service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., followed by an interment. Public health restrictions will apply and for those who wish to attend, proof of vaccination will be required.

  • I worked with Marvin at Canada Post. He was a stand up guy and fun to work with. I would see him once in awhile on Albany street out for his walk. He always had a smile and something witty to say. He will be missed . RIP my deepest condolences . - Posted by: Michael shannon (Friend) on: Feb 27, 2022

  • Wayne, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember when your dad worked for Winnipeg Drapery and you and your dad would install window coverings together when you got off school or on the weekends. I recall his truck camper that he used when you went fishing to Dauphin in the summer. It wasn't until I moved to Dauphin and met your uncle Jim when I worked at the hospital, that I finally found out with who and where he went fishing. Keep the memories of your dad deep within your heart. He was a jovial fellow and very hard working. - Posted by: Carol Schnittjer (West Kildonan neighbor) on: Feb 14, 2022

  • I have few memories of Marvin, but the times we visited in Winnipeg were always full of laughter and fun. Marvin and Victoria enjoyed having family visits whenever we could get to Winnipeg. My heart goes out to Wayne (Joanne) and Virginia. He was tough to the very end. I will be praying for Marvin and the whole family. - Posted by: Iris Ramsdale (nee Nycheck) (cousin to Victoria) on: Feb 10, 2022

  • Marvin was very friendly and jovial individual. It was always a pleasure to see him when he visited his daughter across the street from us. He was especially happy when we took over a big bowl of potato salad for them to enjoy with the bbq. Our condolences go out to the Jury family and we will always remember their father with the fondness of memories. - Posted by: Ron and Siegrid Harrod (Friend of the family) on: Feb 09, 2022
