NORINE BERNICE YOUNG
On February 12, 2022, Norine Bernice Young (nee Coxe) passed away peacefully at the age of 88.
She married William Young in the summer of 1954 in the city of Brandon, Manitoba, but moved to Winnipeg shortly after the second son was born, to further William's career at CN Rail. Together they raised seven children in all as one big happy family.
Norine had two passions in her life: cooking and sewing. In the early years, she took the time and effort to bake dozens of loaves of bread every week, filling the home with the sweet aroma. She was particularly famous for a couple of family favourite recipes: her special macaroni-and-cheese and a pineapple dessert that was to die for!
For most of her life she was almost constantly sewing or knitting. She started by making or repairing the children's clothing, but gradually transitioned to a hobby. She made all sorts of handicrafts from knitted slippers to teddy bears and even some larger dolls. She also made bridesmaids dresses for at least five different weddings and crafted the wedding dress for her daughter Shelley.
She is survived by her brother Clare and sister Yvonne and her children, Gregory, Kenneth, Mark, Bruce, Brent, Maureen and Shelley. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Norine was predeceased by her loving husband William in 2015.
Norine requested no formal service, but she will be joining William in a private setting later in the year.
Friends wishing to honour Norine are invited to make donations in her name to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

Norine was a giving and loving person. She was so talented and gifted her friends and family many beautiful keepsakes. It was always fun having the Young family visit us - never a quiet moment to be had. Norine loved to share the wonderful stories about her childrens’ achievements followed up with the joy she had showing off her family pictures. Our condolences to the family.
