GWENDOLYN (BRYANT) OLIVER
March 19, 1924 - February 17, 2022
It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Gwendolyn Edith Oliver at 97 years.
Gwen was a devoted wife and friend to Baldur, who predeceased her in 2014; mother to her children, Douglas (Diane) Oliver of Ottawa and Nancy Reyda (Court) of Charleswood; grandmother to Andrew and Darren (Ashley Person) Reyda and Alexa Oliver; and great-grandmother to precious Alivia Gwendolyn and Austin Alexandria. She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Gwen was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Barbara Bryant, of Inglis, MB, an infant son, Jon, in 1954, her sisters, Margaret Lyon of Edmonton, Doris Town of Prince Albert, and her brother Arthur of Winnipeg.
Gwen was born and grew up on the farm at Inglis and was always proud of her rural roots. She attended Thunder Creek School and then Russell High School. She was an RN graduate of the Winnipeg General Hospital and gold medalist in the class of 1946. She married Baldur Oliver from Baldur, MB, in May of 1947, and they had 67 happy years together. Gwen was a stay-at-home mom and volunteered during their years in Souris, Neepawa and Morden. After they moved to Winnipeg in 1974, she took a refresher course and worked at Municipal Hospitals. She and Baldur enjoyed many things - their home and garden in Winnipeg and the many trips they took together, but what they loved most of all was their family.
A special thank you to the many family members, friends, neighbours and home care workers who made it possible for Mom to remain in her home for so long by providing care, house and yard work, rides to her activities, company on her walks, and many visits. She was so lucky to have you all.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Road United Church on March 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, St. Mary's Road United Church, or a charity of their choice. Make a donation to

So very sorry for your loss. A wonderful, kind woman, Gwen was a cherished friend of my Mum & our family. As a child I was in her Sunday School class & remember going to the old folks home to play & sing for them as she did some of her volunteer work back in Morden. A long life, well lived, she will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Jill Jaques (Family friend) on: Feb 28, 2022
