DAVID BALES

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dave Bales on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the age of 66 years.
Dave was the beloved husband, friend and confidante of Michelle for over 40 years. The father and mentor of Jason and Jennifer. Dave leaves behind brother Brian, with whom he shared his great lifetime love of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Winnipeg Jets sports teams. Also left to mourn his passing is his sister Val and husband Iain McDougall in Scotland and their daughters and families, Kathy in BC and Kelly in San Antonio. Dave will also be remembered by his mother-in-law Donna, sister-in-law Suzanne and family.
Dave was predeceased by his parents, Pamela and Bernard (Bud) Bales and his nephew Neil McDougall.
Dave was born and raised in the St. Boniface area of Winnipeg. He enjoyed over 45 years of employment within the construction field in Winnipeg as an estimator and Project Manager. He developed many lasting and valuable relationships throughout his career.
Throughout his life, Dave enjoyed curling, baseball, sponge hockey, hunting, fishing and camping. He did most of these activities with friends he's had since his teen years, along with those he has met along his journey through life. Dave enjoyed spending time with his friends at their favourite neighbourhood bar, sporting events or backyard bbq's. He loved to laugh and share jokes. His greatest passion was travelling with Michelle. He was already planning ahead for the next trip while we were on a current vacation.
Dave was always trying to help his children reach their aspirations. He shared his experiences and knowledge on most topics with them whether asked for or not. He enjoyed researching vehicles, travel spots, sports results and finances. He had an amazing memory and was a great source of knowledge on any topic.
We never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and action we make. Dave's love will leave an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared his love. You never know the value of a moment until it is a memory. Enjoy each one. Dave will be loved and cherished eternally.
A private burial will be held with Michelle and his children.

  • Dave was a long time client of the Marion Hotel, and mostly the Nicolett Inn. He participated in the Nicolett Fastball Leaguue, Sponge Hockey, Nicolett Rod and Gun Club and 33 years in the Nicolett Curling Club. Dave was enthusiastic in every endeavour that he took on. He was always happy to see his friends, and quick to enjoy a friendly beer together, and catch up on the latest gossip. Dave Bales was a quiet person, who processed what was being said, then, after a little bit of self deliberation, let you know exactly where he stood about the situation at hand. He wasn't one to argue, but he always let you know where he he stood. Dave was a friend to all, and will be missed by many people.
