RUSKIN (RUSTY) E. TAMBLYN
December 27, 1948 - February 28, 2022
On February 28, my darling husband went home to be with the Lord.
He was predeceased by his daughter Lacey Amber Kate. Rusty leaves his wife Diana (Dailley); his three sons, Matthew, Daniel (wife Tugba, grandson James and his memory will be shared with his soon to be born granddaughter Ayla Kate), Jesse (wife Larissa and grandson Jack) and our daughter Ila (grandson Will).
The last few years of our life were the happiest in our old age. We are grateful for all of the blessings we had. We lived in our little piece of heaven on earth or as Rusty called it, "Town By Chance". When he saw our home some 15 years ago, he felt it was a little like an old western town. One of Rusty's favorite quotes: "Let us live in a home by the side of the road and be a friend to man". He told me once that a man who loves trees is a man who has many friends and that he did.
Rusty retired from the City of Winnipeg after a 35 year career, starting as a garbage collector and retired a Foreman of a District. He loved working on Toyota vehicles, restoring classic cars, antique gas pumps, planting trees, making feeders for hummingbirds and of course his garage. He loved making this little piece of heaven more beautiful than how we found it.
He was very proud of 'Tamblyn Road', a street that was named after him when we moved out of our log house and to our little piece of heaven.
Rusty was a great provider, husband and father. Generous as Rusty was, he never wanted to be thanked or praised for any help he would offer. Whether it was advice or stuck in a jam, he would show up and sincerely say, "think nothin' of it!", as if it was just something he was put on this earth to do. He will be missed by his family and many, many friends.
A 'Celebration of Life' to honor Rusty will be held this summer. I remember asking him what he wanted before he passed on. I said, "I bet a wake, eh?" He replied, "Yes, that would be great. I could walk around and listen to all my life stories told through the words of my friends. It would be like living them all over."
Rest in peace my Darling,
Papa Rusty and Dad

Rusty and his brother Dusty were friends since we met in grade 3 at Sir John Franklin school. The Tamblyn house was always a gathering spot and June always treated us to many of her baking delights. One of my favourite vacation memories was when we traveled to Yakima and stayed at Rusty and Dusty grammas house for a week. It was a great trip with lots of memories. I didnt see the boys much over the last 20 years but a year never went by without a phone call to see what was happening in their lives. I talked with Rusty last year after losing my cousin Rick Burron who was friends with Rusty for many years. The boys lived interesting lives and I enjoyed my times with them especially when we were young boys. Lots of fond memories both in and out of trouble....To Rusty's family my deepest condolences on their loss. He was a great guy whom I got to enjoy the majority of my life. Rusty was always a great person to talk with, at work. He always had time for you. I remember when Rusty, proudly, showed me the beautiful log home that he had built. We have lost one of the good ones. Sincere condolences to Diana, and family. - Posted by: Stephen Skrypnyk (Co-Worker C of W) on: Mar 05, 2022

From my brother Ralph, who is no longer with us, I send lots of love to you and your family. It seemed every time I talked to my brother he was heading out to see Rusty. He so valued their friendship and loved the place you were living. I remember Rusty as a very young guy as I moved to the coast many years ago. They were always into mischief, good mischief. I hope you still have the owl who used to watch everything we were doing in our basement on Cambridge street. Kathy - Posted by: Kathy Pratt and Ralph Pratt (childhood friend) on: Mar 05, 2022
