LORRAINE CRAIGIE
(nee RIEL)
April 25, 1923 - March 12, 2022
Lorraine Craigie passed away peacefully at the age of 98, resident of West Park Manor Personal Care Home.
She was predeceased by parents, Yvonne and Honoré Riel; infant son Richard; and brothers, Roland, Hector, and Marcel.
Lorraine is survived by sister Claudette Doyle; sister-in-law Marie Riel; nieces and nephews; daughters, Carol Lyon (Zan) and Diane Loxton (Bill); granddaughters, Caitlin Lyon (Victor), Lindsay Lyon, Alison Adachi (Yuhito), and Justine Hudson (Matt); great-grandchildren, Kaz, Tomi, Owen, and Mila.
Lorraine was a longtime resident of St. Vital and a school teacher at St. Eugene School and Ecole Lavallee, retiring at age 65. She was a devoted Catholic and quiet lady who put her family first. Lorraine really loved family occasions, going out to eat, and flying to Toronto to visit. She enjoyed a good cup of coffee along with shopping, knitting, reading, the Blue Bombers, and a wee "dram" of brandy in the evening.
Lorraine resided at Thorvaldson Care Center for four years, until a year ago, and liked all the activities there, especially bingo because she always won a chocolate bar! A big "thank you" to Ryann, Jocelyn and Karen for treating Lorraine with kindness, understanding, and dignity.
Thanks also to Garth and the staff of West Park Manor for their care during the past three months.
A family service will follow at a later date.

I have vivid memories of Ms Craigie teaching us at St. Eugene in grade 3 I remember visiting her at Riel house with my mother. She was a caring teacher and a genuinely good person! I hope our behaviour did not lead her to taking a daily dram of brandy! - Posted by: Raymond Gosselin (Former student) on: Mar 19, 2022

Diane and Carol, my sincerest condolences on the passing of your Mom. I've thought of you all quite often over the years. I remember your Mom as a quiet, beautiful woman, and I remember our visits when you lived at Riel House. Hope you and your families are all well.
