• To Lyle, Allan, Brenda and families: our sympathies on the loss of a father, grandfather and just a great guy. If there is an afterlife I doubt Art will be one who would be resting in peace, instead he will be reorganizing it and rearranging it to suit him. I first met Art in 1992 when I was assigned work in Harare, Zimbabwe. Instead of staying in a boring hotel, Art invited me to stay at his house with him, Margaret and their massive guard dog Chester - who decided where I would be allowed go and to sit and how fast I could move. Art and Margaret were great company and I enjoyed many "sundowners" on their patio and many meals with them. On a few other work trips to Zimbabwe, my wife Donna was able to come and again we stayed with Art and Margaret. One highlight was a trip we took together to South Africa, into their wine region, and helped Art reduce his inventory of the gigantic wine barrel contents he had purchased. Quite a man who made quite a positive impact anywhere he was; from his career at Manitoba Hydro at which he became a Vice President to his work assisting the developing countries in Southern Africa.
