DAVID ROBERT HUNTER
July 31, 1934 - March 9, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Robert Hunter - loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. David passed away peacefully with his family at his side at Concordia Hospital.
David was born July 31, 1934 in Geneva Illinois, USA. He enlisted in the U.S.A.F. as a young man where he worked as a military police officer. While posted in Grand Forks on duty, he met the love of his life, Barbara. In 1972 he moved to Winnipeg with his wife and son David Michael; where they enjoyed many years together at 47 Leisure Bay. David worked as an electrical mechanic for over 40 years until his retirement.
David was an avid sports fan and could be found watching hours of football, curling and, NASCAR. He also had a keen interest in current events and would watch CNN daily. His summers were spent cultivating his large backyard garden, which his wife lovingly tended. Family and friends always enjoyed a dip in the pool while admiring their beautiful flower beds.
David often said that his greatest joy were his two grandchildren, Darius and Shivani. They had a close bond and shared opinions on many subjects; from movies, music, politics, education and relationships. There was never a shortage of laughter, love and respect.
David now joins his wife Barbara Faye Hunter (2005); and grandson Darius Bramha Maharaj Hunter (2021). He will be greatly missed by his son David (Anjanie); granddaughter Shivani; Darius's spouse Delyar and his brother Paul. In-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends from across Canada and USA will miss his weekly phone calls and constant chatter.
The family would like to thank Winnipeg's Concordia Hospital and the team on North One, for their exceptional care and compassion during his stay. Much appreciation to David's family physician Dr. Ian Maharaj, for his time, patience and continuous care over the years.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 27, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.

On behalf of Manitoba Possible (formerly the Society of Manitobans with Disabilities) I would like to express our sincerest sympathies to Mr. Hunter's Family. David was a great friend to Manitoba Possible and I personally got to know him directly. His candor about life and our current state of our country was inspiring. We are so sorry to lose a great friend to Manitoba Possible. We are sure his memory will be cherished by his family who he held in great esteem. We have all lost a great person.
