I first met Betty when my oldest was around a year old (18+ years ago). She gave me some wonderful insights on how to help my daughter thrive. "Treat her like a normal child, not as a child who has a disability." When I told her back in 2010, we were moving to British Columbia, she was happy for me. I list contact with her and thought of her often, as I navigated through raising both my special needs daughters. She was always in my thoughts especially during the rough times of waiting for my oldest to come out of surgery or while navigating through school to become a support worker. She made a huge difference in my life and the life of others . She would be so proud of how far my oldest has come since we last saw her. - Posted by: Theresa Toms (Acquaintance / former clients) on: Apr 19, 2022

We are in shock. Betty was always a spark of light and life. She embraced you with her spirit. Our memories will always keep her in our hearts and when we think of her we will always always always have a smile on our face. The love of her children and her Andy were always in the forefront for her. There will never be another and we will all miss her presents. Heaven is a livelier place to have her dynamic spirit dwell there now. Thank you sweet Betty for all the gifts you brought into our lives. - Posted by: Erna Bernie and Michael Hagge (Friend ) on: Apr 04, 2022

As one of the other Grandma's in the wider family circle, I am going to miss Betty for her wonderful vibrant hospitality which at times we shared together for the "Kids" and their "kids." She and Andy blessed the world with Jeff, Cam & Jocelyn and that meant that I too through my daughter Katie with Cam and Andrew was blessed as well with so many rich years of knowing Betty. I cherish the fond memories with tears and joy. - Posted by: Sue Foley-Currie (Friend) on: Mar 30, 2022

I am so sorry to hear about your Mom Betty. I first met your Mom and Dad when I was involved in Marriage encounter in the United Church. She was a go getter and always happy and full of smiles. I am sure she enriched the whole family by just spending time with you. Her laugh and love touched everyone. I was on facebook with her and we always had good conversations. All the best to her family!! She is always with you. Leslie Cawson McNulty - Posted by: Betty Grier (Friend) on: Mar 29, 2022

Betty was an absolute beautiful spirit angel on this earth. I so loved her. She was a gift to many. I enjoyed her ongoing home parties, the Feng Shui we did together, her stories of her marriage & family and her humour (dry). I can hear her roaring laugh as it was so infectious. She invested in her family and they did the same. I am so deeply sorry for the loss of this great human being. I will remember her in peace. My heartfelt condolences to her family & all of the extended family she adopted. Rest Easy my dear friend, rest easy. - Posted by: Leza Jacques (Friend/Colleague) on: Mar 29, 2022

My heartfelt condolences for your loss. I met Betty through my brother-in-law’s relationship with Geoff, Cam and Jocelyn over 20 years ago and we remained Facebook friends for many years after. I also considered her a wise and well versed colleague in the social work profession. She was a bright and shining star in a sometimes dark and gloomy world. She will be greatly missed by everyone whose life she touched in both large and small ways. Ready in Peace, Betty. ❤️ - Posted by: Arlene Robinson (Friend) on: Mar 28, 2022

I first met Betty when I was just a youngster, Betty and her husband Andy visited our home in Sulphide, Ontario. Always remembered that visit with a smile. Later, we were friends on Facebook. I got to visit with Betty and her Mom in Winnipeg a few years ago, a fun supper out. Always looked forward to her posting on Facebook on the first day of the month. Will miss her information on relatives and where they fit into our family history. - Posted by: Ruth Walsh (Cousin) on: Mar 28, 2022

Your Mom was my favorite Aunt and I often referred to her as Uncle Betty. All the Girl Guide songs and expressive books she read and the place I stayed when my Mom went in to have my sister Shenda! When the family moved to Ridgeville, I was babysitter age but also a teenager and your Mom was my confident! I may as well have moved in! As time marched on and the family moved to Stony Mountain, there were a few times in my early marriage when I sought refuge with both your Mom and Dad there to support me. It was not until I had actually graduated from the Social Work program that I realized I had inadvertently followed in her footsteps. Over the miles I send my love, thoughts and prayers to all of you for your loss. Your Mom was an amazing woman and never afraid to be “Betty”….kinda like the Captain Morgan diet she went on one time!!!! I carry fonder than fond memories with me and all that taught me about love and acceptance of self and others. RIP Betty ♥️ - Posted by: Cindy Grier (Niece) on: Mar 28, 2022

So sorry to hear. We loved seeing Betty every summer at the beach. She was a happy part of our summer at Grand Beach. Always with a big smile on her face, sweet and lovely. Genuine joy and love in her heart. We will miss her and seeing her smiling face and fun red glasses. From us at Spirit Rock and the kiosk at Grand Beach. Betty was such a special person and she will be missed tremendously. I was lucky enough to have known her for over 50 years, she was my mom’s best friend, she was my godmother and our families grew up together. She always took interest in our lives and we had many laughs and great visits over the years. She adored her kids and grandchildren and was so proud of them all. Stylish in every way and a generous, kind and loving lady. Miss you Auntie Betty! I’ll always think of you on the first day of the month! Geof, Cambell, and Jocelyn, please accept my deepest sympathy. Betty was always so very full of life and spread joy wherever she was. How many laughs we shared as young mothers spending coffee breaks together as our children played. I still cherish those memories and smile. As a mature student she got a University degree and proved to herself her intellectual worth. She met life head-on finding humour and meaning even in the more unpleasant moments. Heaven will be even brighter now. - Posted by: Patricia Robertson (former neighbour, friend) on: Mar 19, 2022
