It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Erna Janzen - wife and faithful partner of Peter Janzen. Erna passed away on March 21, 2022 at Donwood Manor; she was 82.
Erna will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Peter Janzen; children, Sylvia (Brian) and Harvey (Kerri); and grandchildren, Savannah, Alexandra, Christopher, Ian, and Brianna.
Erna was born on November 11, 1939 in the Ukraine; she was the youngest of eight girls. During the Second World War, Erna and her family had to flee for their safety and eventually immigrated to Canada in 1955. Erna met the love of her life Peter Janzen and they were married on June 10, 1961.
Erna led a full life, and upon retirement, enjoyed travelling with Peter. Erna spent the last three years of her life at the Donwood Manor Personal Care Home where she was well cared for and loved by the staff. Erna will be missed, but we find comfort in the fact that she is now whole and at peace in Christ's presence.
Funeral service will be held Friday, March 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at McIvor Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church, 200 McIvor Avenue, with viewing prior to the service. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)
Erna Janzen was the youngest sister of my adoptive mother Justa Friesen Pauls. My mom was 16 years older than Tante Erna. Tante Erna and I took accordian lessons together and when she wanted to get her Grade 10 high school then, I helped her with math and English. We both disliked math. Tante Erna and Onkel Peter had a cottage just a few doors away at Belair / Lester beach. We also spent a lot of tome together as relatives eating and playing games. And talking. When Tante Erna worked at DAllairds mom always had the sharpest clothes. I would always phone her on her Birthday Nov 11. I will miss her dearly but so many memories. Rest in Peace Tante Erna. - Posted by: Reinhold Heinrich Pauls (Nephew) on: May 12, 2022
