SYLVIA BOURBONNIERE
October 9, 1941 March 21, 2022
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of Sylvia Bourbonniere on Monday, March 21, 2022, after a short stay at the Victoria General Hospital, at the age of 80 years old.
Sylvia is survived by her brother Albert (Darlene) Bourbonniere; her two sisters, Lucie Desmeules and Janet Cooper, along with their children and grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sylvia was predeceased by her parents, Justin Joseph Bourbonniere and Marie Jeanne Carrick.
She was born in St. Front, Saskatchewan on October 9, 1941 and lived there till the family moved to Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba where she graduated from high school in 1959. She then graduated from the University of Manitoba in Interior Design and was employed by Eaton's Design Department.
Sylvia worked as a draft-designer for AKA Works Ltd. After that she went on to study Architecture at Sir George University in Montreal. With her extensive study she went on to Venice for some specialized study. She then worked in Paris for a while. While in Paris, as she loved to travel, she went and toured around London for a bit.
Sylvia went on to Vancouver almost immediately upon her return from Paris. She picked up some studies and got her degree there. She proceeded onto Winnipeg where she worked for the well-known architecture firm Gaboury. In 1981, she took a position that she couldn't pass up working for the Federal Government in Ottawa, Ontario. She then took an early retirement in 2002. She came back to her roots in Winnipeg in 2005 and had made her home here ever since.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and the staff, along with Paul Peters Derry (Spiritual Health Services) for their continued support for our sister Sylvia during her time at Victoria Hospital. We are forever grateful.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Desjardins Funeral Home with viewing to begin at 1:00 p.m.
