MARJORIE ISABELLA GOULD
(nee LAING)
On March 31, 2022 in her 93rd year, Marj passed away at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home.
Born on November 14, 1929, to Elsie (nee Morrow) and Herb Laing, Marj grew up on a farm outside of Stonewall with her two sisters, Doreen and Helen, until her father sold the farm and bought an apartment building in Winnipeg. She met her husband, Allan Gould while working at Woolworths. They married on September 2, 1950 and were together until Al passed away in 2012.
She leaves to mourn, her four children, Norma Glenham (Bill), Marilyn Profeta (Clerio), Allan Gould (Jacquie), and Brian Gould (Glennda); her grandchildren, Jeff Glenham, Chad Glenham (Sara), Jody Glenham (Mike Brown), Kyle Profeta, Jesse Profeta, Asha Geron (Ken), Kris Gould (Michelle), Katie Hibbs (Paul), their mom Nancy, Jessie Gould (Keegan Zeemel), Ian Gould (Kevin Roy); her 13 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Doreen Maltman and Helen Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her grandson Trevor.
She and Al bought a cottage lot on the Lee River in 1963 and with their family, spent many hours there. In 1967, they bough a half section across the river from their cottage, and with their family built the Black Bear subdivision and the Back Bear Golf Club.
Nanny loved to curl and watch curling, travelling the world to see the World Curling Championships, knit, garden and pick blueberries in the summer. She played piano learning the music by ear. She was an excellent baker, once winning first prize at the Stonewall Fair for her chocolate cake. She would like her family to remember her for her Christmas cake, shortbread, Christmas pudding and her chili sauce. We will also remember her for her pies which were simply delicious.
In 2021, due to failing health, Nanny moved to Middlechurch Home and then to Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home where she remained until her passing. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Lac du Bonnet Home Care, Middlechurch Home and especially Dr. Bruneau and the staff of the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home for taking such good care of Nanny. She said that Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home was heaven!
Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home or a charity of choice.
As per her wishes, they will be no service.
