GORDON RICHARDS
June 11, 1930 - April 8, 2022
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Gordon, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. Gordon passed away after a brief hospital stay at the age of 91 on Friday, April 8, 2022.
He will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by his wife Doris; children, Darrell (Laura) and Karen; grandchildren, Krista, Kelsey, Adam and Marty; great-grandchildren, Ally and Daniel.
He was predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Opal Richards; daughter Darilyn and son-in-law Rick.
Gordon was born on June 11, 1930 in Wetaskiwin, AB. He began his career with the Imperial Bank in Wetaskiwin in 1949. He was transferred to Lac la Biche in 1954 where he met Doris at the bank. They were married on February 11, 1956. They had many moves over the years. His final move was to Winnipeg, where he retired from CIBC in 1990 after a long career of 41 years.
He was a fierce competitor in everything he did, whether it was playing sports such as golfing, basketball, curling, fishing, bowling, snooker and even ballroom dancing. He also loved to get together with friends to play card games, go to the casino and go to the horse races. He also enjoyed travelling with Doris, especially Hawaii and the many cruises they embarked on.

I remember the many times our families got together, they were loud and happy times. My parents Jim and Marilyn Craig always enjoyed those times as did the rest of the family. In Arborg, I remember many shared family events. I have a story, I had an opportunity to go fishing with my Dad, Mr Richards, Darrell, and Mr Zacharius: We had long days of fishing, then in the evening a fish fry at a house in Lac Labiche. Staying up late watching tv, while I think the adults played cards and drank rum and cokes. It is a cherished memory of mine. Laughter and community, will always mean a lot to me. Later in life, my parents enjoyed travel and events with your parents. The friendships and memories will last a lifetime. So sorry for your loss. We played bridge in a mixed couples group for a few years. We remember Richard as a sharp bridge player, and a man of many interests. We feel honoured to have known him across the bridge table. - Posted by: Bob and Sally lawler (Bridge friends) on: Apr 26, 2022
