Date of Passing: Apr 25, 2022Offer Condolences or Memory
On a rainy Monday evening, April 25, 2022, Dean passed away peacefully after a short but hard fought battle with IPF.
He is survived by his wife Stephanie, and our children, Mark, Suzanne and Holly, without whom I would never have made it through.
Thank you to our friends and co-workers for everything you have done to support us. Thanks to the Manitoba Transplant Program for giving us hope, and to the caring staff at Health Sciences Centre MICU, especially Danica, for your compassion and skill. Dean said the nurses would have made me proud, and there is no finer compliment than that.
Flowers gratefully declined. Please consider donations to Spirit of Hope Rescue (firstname.lastname@example.org) in honour of his trusty hounds, Zero, Freya and especially his beloved Mysty.

So sorry to hear of your loss Stephanie, we can't imagine the pain you both went through and also the loss you are experiencing today. We remember Dean as that coach that got the most out of his athletes. Lee has mentioned that Dean was one of the best coaches he had when starting his hockey career. We send our condolences to you and the family. - Posted by: Claudette Reimer (friend) on: May 12, 2022
So sorry to hear of Dean's passing. Though our interactions were limited, I always found him to be a straight shooter and honest while sharing his knowledge and expertise which I appreciated. Once again please accept my sincere condolences Steph. I keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers and share in your grief. - Posted by: Bernardine Brys (friend/former colleague of Stephanie) on: May 02, 2022
So sorry to hear about Dean. First met Dean when he started work at Mac Donald Autobody. We became friends and hockey teammates. We had some pretty good times in the Outlaw Hockey League, Friday Night St Vital old timer league and then moving over to Boni Vital league. Condolences to the family. - Posted by: Rob Sykes (Friend/coworker/Teammate) on: Apr 30, 2022
Can still see his big smile after Holly slaps one in from the blue-line. You’re in my thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Brad Toews (Hockey Coach) on: Apr 30, 2022
I was very sad to hear of Dean's passing. I have not seen him since our girls played hockey together. I will remember Dean's straight forward approach to all situations and the sincerity in the words he spoke. Please accept the Krentz families condolences. - Posted by: Darren Krentz (Fellow Hockey Parent ) on: Apr 28, 2022
