SYLVIO LAFLECHE
Peacefully and surrounded by his family, Sylvio passed away on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022 at the age of 87.
Sylvio will be profoundly missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Agnès (Brière); his children, Mike (Janet), Joce (Marty Hébert), Henri (Kim), Denis (Teri), Jean-Paul (Sandee) and Roxanne (Paul La Rocque); his grandchildren, Natalie (Patrick), Matthew, André (Annick), Kevin (Korrie), Ryan, Alain, Kelsey, George, Emily, Chloé, Cabrel, Eric, Mylène and Emma; five great-grandchildren and two on the way. He will also be missed by his numerous siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
Sylvio was predeceased by his infant daughter Rox-Anne; his parents; his in-laws; four brothers and three brothers-in-law.
Dad was born on March 13, 1935 in Elie, Manitoba and grew up in St. Charles. As a teenager, he operated the St. Charles ferry and worked at the convent for the Oblate Sisters. Dad was a master cabinet maker and worked for many years at Dowse Woodworking Ltd. He later retired from the cabinet shop at the St. Vital School Division. Throughout the years, Dad enjoyed building many different woodworking projects and took pride in building his own home, as well as helping build two for his sons. Cabinetry was his passion and he made multiple sets of kitchen cabinets for several family members and friends.
In 1959, Dad married the love of his life, Agnès from Mankota, Saskatchewan and together they raised six wonderful children. Together they enjoyed bowling, dancing, playing 500 and loved to attend family parties, where you could hear Dad's resounding voice singing over the crowd. Dad had an amazing joie de vivre and loved joking around and teasing the grandkids. Pepère was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan and his passion for the Habs has filtered through three generations. Dad was also a very faithful man who had a special devotion to the Virgin Mary. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Ile Des Chênes Council and he was always involved in various community activities.
Sylvio was a very proud husband, dad and pepère who cherished his family immensely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place and a Mass of Resurrection is planned for this summer.
Dad would be immensely happy if in lieu of flowers, a donation was made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba.

We are saddened by the passing of your dad, husband, pepere, uncle, and brother. We have known each other since junior high and high school. Through the years we have celebrated life with the Lafleche family and I must say, your family has set the bar really really high for family relationship goals. Guy Lafleur kinda goals! Mr and Mrs Lafleche have nurtured a beautiful family and have an everlasting legacy of love. RIP MR LAFLECHE - Posted by: Colleen and Paul Lecocq (Friends) on: May 03, 2022
