I am so saddened to learn of the passing of George. George was a very good friend to my parents Jack and Chris Jamieson. Mom was the secretary at Brandon University where they formed a friendship that lasted until mom's passing in 2007. George was always spoken very highly of by both Mom and Dad. I met George on a lawyer - client basis and the man I saw was so very kind, understanding, and most of all compassionate. On behalf of Mom, Dad and myself please accept our sincere condolences for your loss. George will always have a place in our hearts. God bless. - Posted by: Scott C Jamieson (Friend) on: Jun 18, 2024

I just learned of George’s passing. We were classmates at Law School. On graduation I went West. George was a fine friend throughout our University days together and part of a group that hung out together during those years. He was such a solid person. I am saddened to learn of his passing See you on the other side my friend - Posted by: Wolfgang Andresen (Classmate) on: Dec 20, 2022

George was one of our gang of friends at Brandon University. We pranked, smart-mouthed & thoroughly enjoyed our BU days which he was very much a part of. Of course, through hockey, our paths would cross with brief reunions which were over filled with laughter & story telling. We will always remember George with great respect & fondness. - Posted by: Brenda & Garry Davidso (School Mates) on: May 15, 2022

Oh man, I met George around 1982/1983 when he was managing the Blues. I can't believe he's gone. His team was kicking the crap outta my friend's team (and my friend!). Big brawl on the ice! I was a bit excited and hanging on the glass and yelling and George, with his dry humour said "I see that you get a bit excited by the game" or something like that. He invited me to play squash and come see the Blues play again. I accepted and a 40 year friendship began. We had many dinners out and at our homes, rye and cokes, squash, movies, Boxing Day parties, and shared some clients (I'm an accountant). George was an extreme gentleman, with class (and sometimes without just to keep it interesting). He had such a dry wit and was funny without really trying to be funny. For a lawyer, oddly, he never had too many words. In fact, he always was a man of few words in my company. But always interesting and compassionate...and humble. He was kind and gentle. I really think he was so proud to be a lawyer and serving the public and those that couldn't serve themselves in that capacity. Many times I was with George and a client would call him late in the evening...he always answered. I do think he was so proud of his commitment to human rights and the work he did there. I really miss my friend... - Posted by: Scott Wotherspoon (Friend) on: May 13, 2022

I was able to watch the beautiful service and celebration of George’s life, on line, from my home in B.C. George was a truly good person and a loyal and supportive friend. He will be missed, by me, and many, many others, and especially by his loving sister, Judith. Judith, my deepest condolences to you. Rose 🌹 - Posted by: Rose Cuddy (Friend) on: May 10, 2022

I’m so sorry to hear of George’s passing! We met at Brandon University in 1972 when we both majored in political science. After graduation, we were classmates at the Faculty of Law, University of Manitoba. In 1975 George stayed in Winnipeg while I moved to Vancouver Island. We continued our friendship over the years in spite of living many miles apart! He was a fine man, and a true friend. My wife, Jan, and I are saddened by his loss. - Posted by: Eldon Iverson (Fellow students at Brandon University and University of Manitoba) on: May 07, 2022

Met George many years back, he was a kind, considerate & generous person who represented his clients exceptional well. The world is certainly a lot more empty without a lawyer like George in it. Rest In Peace my friend. - Posted by: Jim King (Friend ) on: May 07, 2022

George was our neighbour on Easy Street. Last spring as George was receiving treatment and mostly housebound we helped with the landscaping of his front yard. As part of that work we staked in the midst of his rock garden a large ornamental butterfly. It symbolized our hope for his emergence from the chrysalis of cancer. He liked the butterfly a lot. It brought him joy. How often we were treated with cases of select wines and bouquets of flowers as his way of saying thanks. We miss him. - Posted by: Lionel and Jane Martens (Friend and Neighbour) on: May 05, 2022

George was a class act and a great friend. He was the manager of the Winnipeg South Blues and was respected by all involved. When we went on road trips, he was the guy who determined if we played well enough to deserve a case of beer on the bus ride home. We often played like crap but got the beer anyway. The guys on the team frequently behaved as young 18 year old "men" do and George was the guy you would hide from if your antics became known. He would act mad, but his smirk would tell you that he found it funny as heck. If it was really bad, he would be there to assist with free legal work on your behalf. He became a good friend to many on the team as we aged and he will be missed by many. Thank you George for all of your effort in supporting hockey, keeping us in line and for being a great friend. - Posted by: Scott Gardner (Friend) on: May 04, 2022

I'm saddened to hear of George's passing and extend condolences to his sister, extended family and friends. I got to know George as a fellow student at Brandon University. Later, he was my lawyer. George was always a considerate, kind gentleman with a keen mind and a dry wit. Whether I was seeking legal counsel or just bumped into George on the street, I always walked away feeling better than when we began. He had that positive effect on people! George will be missed but not forgotten. - Posted by: Ken Dzogan (Friend) on: May 04, 2022
