CHARLOTTE JEAN COULTER
Peacefully on May 1, 2022, after a long battle with dementia, Charlotte Jean Coulter (nee Thompson) passed away at her residence at Golden Links Lodge.
Charlotte leaves behind her loving husband of 58 years, Larry Coulter; children: Todd (Laura), grandchildren, Spence, Reece; and Kerry (James), grandchildren, Emily and Carter; and siblings, Ann (Ron) and Jim (Liz).
Charlotte grew up in the Weston area of Winnipeg, attending Weston, Cecil Rhodes and Daniel McIntyre Schools. When Char was 14, she met Larry, the love of her life at the skating rink, and went on to be married in 1964. Charlotte worked at the Winnipeg School Board until starting her family in 1968. Charlotte began a successful 24-year career at the Hudson Bay Company, starting in Winnipeg in 1975, and retiring in Toronto in 1999 when the urge to be surrounded by grandchildren overcame her.
Charlotte was quite adventurous and loved to travel and wanted nothing more than to have her family come along. She, Larry, and the motor home visited most of North America, and returned annually to their favourite spots including Myrtle Beach, St. Pete's Beach and the Rocky Mountains. So many vacation memories we have!
Charlotte never met a piece of chocolate she didn't like, but that pales in comparison to her love for her family. Char loved family gatherings at the farm, picnics in the rain, and KFC on a Sunday afternoon. Char was a passionate feminist, loved to laugh and tease, and have a lively debate.
The family would like to thank the staff and management at the Golden Links Lodge for the phenomenal care that Charlotte received over the last four years.
A private family event will be held at a later date. Flowers are gracefully declined, and the family asks that charitable donations in Charlotte's honour be made to Golden Links Lodge, 2280 St. Mary's Rd.
The family asks that you lift a margarita in Char's honour the next time you are with your loved ones.
