BARRÉ: Maurice Alfred Louis Barré passed away at the Virden Health Centre on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at the age of 87 years. Maurice was born on May 23, 1934 at Routledge, Manitoba. He farmed for many years at the Barré family home, worked for CP delivery, then became the proud owner of the Virden Taxi for over 25 years. He also enjoyed delivering the Brandon Sun and Winnipeg Free Press newspapers to the carriers in town as there were lots of visits between his stops. Maurice loved his TV shows (he had to stay current with the daily news), curling, fishing, reading, camping and coffee visits. His passion was animals, especially the dogs. Nothing made Maurice prouder than witnessing the achievements of his kids and grandkids, whether it be in cubs, baseball, hockey or attending their graduations. Maurice will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Janice; daughter Teena (Scott) Barkley; son Dwight (Shawna) Barré and grandchildren Kelsey, Hali and Damian. He will also be missed by many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Maurice was predeceased by his parents Alex and Mildred Barré, brother Alex (Babe) Barré and grandson MacKenzie Barkley. The family would like to send out a special thank you to the paramedics, doctors and staff at the Virden Health Centre for the excellent care Dad received. Thank you to Craig Hayward and staff at Memories Chapel in Brandon for the excellent service. Maurice would have been so proud. To our family, friends and neighbors thank you for all your love and support. It was very much appreciated. Donations in memory of Maurice may be made to Funds For Furry Friends, #208 740 Rosser Ave, Brandon, MB, R7A 0K9.
