WARNICK: Phyllis Margaret Warnick (Antonation). September 14, 1928 – May 15, 2022. It is with great sadness that the family of Phyllis Warnick announce that she passed peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2022 while in the palliative care unit at the Brandon Regional Health Centre – Assiniboine Centre. Phyllis was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Phyllis was born on September 14, 1928 on a farm in Olha, Manitoba then later moved to Oakburn where she and her 10 siblings grew up. Phyllis, being the eldest daughter, left school after grade 8 to help take care of her siblings. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, John; her son, Kelvin; her daughter, Linda; and her grandson, Ryan. Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Beverley (John) and Valerie; grandchildren: Matthew, Angela, Michelle, Jason, Michael, Jennifer, Tyler, Lindsay, Allison, Jillian, Amy, Kevin, Tyler and several great-grandchildren. Phyllis also leaves behind her brothers: Stanley, Jack, Kenny, Walter and sisters, Elsie and Teena. Family was always at the forefront for Phyllis, and when she wasn't cooking or baking she was schooling one of her daughters or grandchildren in a game of gin rummy. Phyllis loved having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren around the house and you would often find her singing and dancing around her kitchen with them. Phyllis also loved gardening, reading, feeding the birds and walked downtown every day to meet with friends over coffee. Phyllis worked with the retired nuns at St. Michaels as a health care aide for many years. She adored the nuns and was exceptional at her job. Taking care of people came naturally to her. The family would like to recognize the staff at the Brandon Regional Health Centre Palliative Care Unit for the compassion and empathy shown to Phyllis and her family. We would like to thank Janet (Phyllis' health care aide) for not only taking such good care of her but for her friendship and companionship over the past year. Phyllis will be dearly missed by all whose lives she warmly touched.
