ROBERT (BOB) JOSEPH MALO
June 16, 1942 - May 31, 2022

With deep sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Robert Malo in Winnipeg on May 31 at the age of 79.
While Bob grew up without family in his early years, he leaves behind a rich network of friends in several communities, many of whom became his family. Winnipeg Citizen Advocacy became a springboard for Bob's community, marked by a lifelong friendship with Greg Tonn for 33 years. Bob went on to serve at Winnipeg Harvest/Harvest Manitoba for 16 years where he was highly respected for his hard work, compassion for clients, and lasting connections with many, including his friend, Tom Crew. He embraced a strong spiritual life, cultivating his faith at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where he formed a close friendship with Carol and Bill Beitzel and fellowship with other members.
Through the arc of his life, Bob embraced a life of giving and cherished his friends as family. He reminds us that a meaningful life is anchored by the kind of relationships we form. He inspires us to move past adversity and to celebrate life with joy and laughter. You remain in our hearts, Bob, and we will miss you dearly.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Avenue, at 10:00 a.m. Friends and community are invited to visit Bob's tribute page and leave condolences and memories at www.mosaicfunerals.ca

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • It was a privilege and pleasure to watch Bob be a ray of joy and honest delight when present in our church community. His love -filled spirit embraced all around him. Watching his passion for singing the hymns and ensuring all around him knew the right number was a special treat for those of us in choir where he sat so near each Sunday mass. He was a gift to us all...another angel for sure in the celestial choir! - Posted by: Louise Lemoine (Friend) on: Jun 06, 2022

  • My deepest condolences to Greg, Dhiwya, and Jashiel, on the loss of Bob. He was a gentle man who had grown up with hardship and yet built a life of love and connection to others. He found his family through Greg. Several years ago, Bob gave me a gift of glass doorknobs that matched the ones in my home. I was looking for a replacement and Bob had rescued the doorknobs from a building that was being torn down to make room for the then new Great West Life building. I will miss his Christmas cards, carefully completed with each letter in a different colour of ink. I will miss Bob. - Posted by: Zana Lutfiyya (Friend) on: Jun 04, 2022

  • Bob was the most unique and caring person. He made many friends, both children and adults, at Holy Rosary Church. Bob had a very good voice and thoroughly loved the choir. He encouraged those sitting around him to join him in singing. Bobby was our greeter at the front door and made everyone feel welcome. His generosity knew no limits. He faithfully collected tabs for wheelchairs for kids and was so proud when he reached well over a million tabs. He enjoyed many of the social activities at the church. Getting to mass each Sunday became increasingly difficult, but this did not stop Bob from attending no matter the weather or health issues. We miss you Bobby but know you are now singing with the angels! - Posted by: Carol & Bill Beitzel ( Close friends) on: Jun 04, 2022
