MELVIN (MEL) RAYMOND KIESMAN
November 21, 1956 - May 19, 2022
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Mel.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sheila; son David (Mikaila); grandsons, Zaden and Cameron; his daughter KC (Patrick); his mother Theresa; his sisters, Faye (Al), Cindy (Ken); his brother-in-law Jim (Emma); sisters-in-law Linda and Lorna; and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is predeceased by his father Raymond and in-laws James, Ruth, and Andy.
Mel graduated from Grant Park High School and Red River Community College, focusing on accounting. He had a very successful career as an accountant, or "bean counter" as he called himself. Mel worked at the Manitoba Centennial Concert Hall for two decades and owned and operated several tax businesses. His favorite time of the year was tax season because he could help people with their tax needs.
Mel was very passionate about sports and the arts in Winnipeg. He proudly brought family to the Concert Hall to enjoy musicals, orchestras, and ballets. His favorite performance was "Les Miserable." Mel was also a zealous fan and season ticket holder for both the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Jets (versions 1.0 and 2.0).
Despite the health challenges he experienced, Mel always had an optimistic outlook and saw the glass half full. He spent his last years at Deer Lodge Centre where he made many friends and was happily part of the "Three Amigos". He will be fondly remembered as a sweet and loving man who was always willing to help others and had a dad joke up his sleeve. He could make you laugh with a story and talk your ear off about the latest bad call by the ref.
We love you Mel and thank you so much for everything you contributed to our lives.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Homes & Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue. Masks are required.
