WILLY DONKERSLOOT

It is with much sadness we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, peacefully on June 6, 2022. She was dearly loved but we are so thankful that her pain and suffering have ended. She is rejoicing in her heavenly home in the arms of Jesus and reunited with her beloved husband which she so longed for.
She is predeceased by her devoted husband of 66 years, Hans. She is survived by her six children, Anthony (Lily), David (Ann), Randy (Cynthia), Marilyn (Jim), Ken (Mona) and Tim (Kelly); along with many precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Willy was born in 1932 in Rotterdam, Holland, and followed the love of her life to Canada, in June,1953 where they married and lived in Lethbridge for a short period and then settled in Winnipeg.
After raising her children, she followed her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse at Children's Hospital where she touched so many lives. She was dedicated, compassionate and caring. It truly was a gift and not a job. She loved it!
She was a testament to faith, love and commitment as she lovingly cared for her husband in his declining years. A true inspiration!
Her greatest joy was to be surrounded by her family and relished those times. We fondly remember crouqettes, boeter koek (butter cake) and times full of laughter and happiness.
In her retirement years she spent many hours volunteering and investing in the lives of others with a smile and joy.
She served her Lord and Saviour faithfully which was of utmost importance to her. She will be dearly remembered and missed greatly.

Philippians 1:21

  • As a teenager I was blessed to get to know Willy when I was a patient at Children’s hospital. Her warm smile was always a comfort to me during my many hospital stays. Then years later we reunited during the time that Willy and Hans lived in Carman. We shared many visits and talks and I always treasured her wisdom and advice. My sincere condolences to her family. - Posted by: Kim MacLellan (Former patient) on: Jun 09, 2022

  • It was with great sadness that I learned of Willy’s (Tante Will to me) passing. Tante Will was a wonderful friend to my mom and dad. I remember spending many a Sunday at her home with the family. Always feeling welcomed. I hold a special memory close to my heart When my mom was in her final days and I was flying back and forth from Vancouver, it was Tante Will that was there when I couldn’t be. She told me she would be there for mom and she was, with so much love, understanding and compassion. It meant the world to my brothers and I. Her friendship, kindness and compassion will be missed. We extend sincere condolences to all of the family. I am sure you have many wonderful and beautiful memories to help you at this time. Irene, Doug and Bob. - Posted by: Irene McArthur (nee Debets) (Daughter of Emmy and Pieter Debets)) on: Jun 09, 2022
