JOAN BARBARA TUREK
1937 2022
On Sunday morning, June 12, 2022, at Holy Family Personal Care Home, Joan Barbara Turek passed away.
Joan was born in Winnipeg on November 28, 1937. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Katie Turek and her best friend, her sister, Leona Ozog.
She leaves behind many wonderful and caring friends, goddaughter Jacqueline (Jackie) Gacek, Joan Ploszay and family and Louise Rodzen, to name a few.
All friendships were very important to Joan.
Joan was educated in Winnipeg and attended Holy Ghost, William Whyte, and Isaac Newton Schools. She also continued her education at the University of Winnipeg and worked with the Federal Government of Canada until her retirement, a position that she thoroughly enjoyed and made wonderful lasting friendships.
Her life was filled with many travels around the world with her mother Katie, Leona and Leona's husband, Bruno Ozog.
Joan's devotion to God and the church were extremely important to her. Joan was a member of Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church and attended mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church.
She was also a member of the Catholic Women's League at Holy Ghost Church, the Legion of Mary, St. Benedicts and St. John Cantius Leisure Club.
Joan's favourite pastime activities included playing the piano, attending the Winnipeg Symphony, the Manitoba Theatre Centre, and the Casinos of Winnipeg.
Her love for animals, especially kitty cats, gave Joan much comfort and pleasure. Jazz and Lucky were fortunate to have "Mama Joan" taking care of them.
A very special thanks and sincere appreciation to the Heath Sciences Centre and Holy Family Personal Care Home staff for the compassionate comfort care Joan received.
If one so wishes, donations can be made to Holy Family Personal Care Home or the Health Sciences Centre, in Joan's name.
Like Joan would say! "Let's Rock and Roll" or "The Power of Prayer"
Mass will be celebrated at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church on Monday, June 27, 2022, at 11:00 a,m., 342 Pritchard Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
